Carelessness
The tour guide pointed to Notre Dame
on the left, all gargoyles, buttresses
and saints carved with medieval
naiveté. “They used it as a stable
and warehouse for storing grain
during the Revolution...”
The Christ of the Bishops of Paris
rebuked the people from marble
pulpits, while He, unnoticed,
tended to horses and fed them grain
there. On the Rue St. Denis
a desolating aristocracy shambled
back to their chateaux. The tour
bus gleams in spring sun, the cafes
cajole us to sip and contemplate.

Hey,
Not bad at all. I liked the sounds of medieval naivete, and again at shambled back to their chateaux.
