Why is it
that some people
seem to stay where they feel comfortable?
They stay
in one section of a forum.
They never venture into sections called "Everything else"
The everything elsers once strayed into the Poetry Place
but no one knew whether the poem was serious or not,
so comments were critical
or worse, the work was ignored.
Why is it?

Hi Foxwood...
Not to ignore you, I thought I'd answer your post. I spend most of my time here at the poetry section by forum members mostly because of time... I've put in a good deal of time here, which leaves me little time for "everything else," although I poke around now and then as best I can... I see you are from Yorkshire, and as I'm looking into Brit accents at the moment, I'm wondering what yours must sound like...
Anyway, good to bring these issues up from time to time, and, speaking for myself, no offense intended... it's just about choosing where to put one's time, and sometimes, well, maybe it's just plain laziness... or, as you say, staying in one's comfort zone... Even here, there are people I'd like to chat with at some point, but just haven't gotten around to it yet... It has nothing to do with deliberately ignoring people, or snobbery, or anything like that...
best to you,

Re: Why is it?
For me it is about snobbery. I acknowledge that I don't often go to Everything Else anymore because of a lack of will rather than a lack of time. Political discussions and disagreements get boring once they've gone on for more than a few hours, and the ones there have been going on for over a year. The same people howling the same things they've been howling since the beginning. The games have lost interest for me as well.
I do pop in now and then, but I have no commitment there.

Re: Why is it?
Okay well lets see...
The choppiness could work - it adds to it a sense of potential conflict.
The line breaks are unique but work in the sense that they emphasize specific words.
They stay
in one section of a forum.
My only suggestion would be to tighten this. It's not long in nature, so it could make a good short.
Some words to consider.
Well, it's a long way up and I don't have the key to the elevator so I have to take the stairs.
Plus I find everything to be very big, pretty much anything could be there; whereas here I know what to expect; some not so good poetry, some okay poetry and a few gems tossed in.
p.s. I like your hat.

Re: Why is it?
Cate has made constuctive comments and I appreciate them.
I think if I made the changes that Cate suggests then it would not half bad - for a first attempt.
Now this is the second time I have ventured down to the Poetry Place and I have to say..
I may look in again!

Yes do.
We have a lady here, also from Yorkshire.
Keep her away from me.
I know Kung Fu.

Oh in that case,
Gung Hay Fat Choy to you Sirus!
Shouldn't it be spelled 'Cyrus'?
