I was just perusing this list of new covers and would like to highlight one artist-John Boutte. Anne & I saw him at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans a couple of years ago. We thought that he was immensely talented and the album that we bought there continues to be one of our favorites. I believe that he is a native of New Orleans. I'm excited to get another album by him especially including a Cohen cover song.

Thanks Joe for highlighting John Boutte. Awesome sound and a kickass band on the Good Neighbor CD. I was sold from the first notes of "Treme song" on his website. I go to NO almost every year and never heard of this guy. I'll be looking out for him this year at Jazz Fest. Have ordered both Good Neighbor and Jambalaya (and I promised myself no more new CDs this year!). In addition to Hey That's No Way to Say Goodbye, Jambalaya also has Sam Cooke's famous song A Change is Gonna Come.

Happy New Year to you also!

We saw John at the French Quarter Festival which is in April. I'm not sure if he plays during Jazz Fest, but I think he plays often in clubs there. Like most music, experiencing it live certainly transcends the recorded versions, so if you get a chance to see and hear him, I think it is well worth it. The French Quarter Fest is mostly local musicians and one of the locals told me that John is a local favorite. Hope you have a great time, if you go. Anne & I plan to go back sometime soon, also.

Maybe we'll see you in Chicago, if Leonard brings the tour around that way.
