Shakespeare’s Renaissance
Shakespeare Dear,
Can I borrow your Quill?
It’s time for us Catholics
To pay the Reformation Bill
Before the theatres get closed
By a satirical Queen
Using an Act of Parliament
She was never a Virgin in Irony
In life Will, as you know
There is only one virgin
Man has never touched
The true idea of religion
Criticised from the Church and the Crown
Will always shut the theatres down
Hear our latter day odes of love
Organically all life is brewed in a pub.
Nightly nudes silhouette dusk
Go nakedly coy upon the dawn
‘’I’m sorry. What was your name?’
Shyly trying to put their clothes back on
You promised, you promised, more sweet games
But the bell ringing Matins and Vespers in song
Will’s pen is mightier than the sword
But your little dagger is more fun, my Lord.
Then the play went from Queen Bess to King James
Poor Guy Fawkes just went up in flames
Who will ever know the men’s true names?
The king’s Witchcraft Thesis caused the pain
Jailer your payment will be in orgies of rape
Keep your branding irons hot against evil’s fate
To stop witchcraft, making a satanic comeback.
Public spectacle by public demand is public executions
Now Shakespeare of your Renaissance
You, just like the Greeks introduced the Humanities
Your plays and sonnets told us that we are all human
What is man if not flesh, born of woman?
It is not the Dictators who mercilessly kill
But the professional bodies, who propose death
Group minds like the murder of the innocent
The doctor, the TV reports all the true professions
Condemn and crucify the people for only being human

I like the complexities of thought, ideas, and expression in this poem you've written. "Go nakedly coy upon the dawn" ~ what a great line amongst others. This poem also reminds me that the priest recently imprisoned here for child molestation "from behind the cloth," was just killed in prison by another inmate serving a life sentence for murder. This, despite being held apart from the general population. Molestation is a crime taken to heart by inmates serving time, secondary to the prevalence of their own victimization.

you are a poet and did not know it
years spent fidgeting with a brush
and touching the ivory keys
when the reality was to compose your odes
and allow your soul to walk free
after a chance meeting with the toad
on the verge of the sunny pool
now isn't life so cool?

I am a right bad ass, dankish prince and I love my Violet to bits.

The priest thing was going on when I was a kid, everybody knew and everyone did nothing.
Evil grows when good men do nothing
I'll write a longer piece on this subjec entitled The Same People but now in Modern Professions-- this is a subject I feel strongly about
