I am getting married in 2010. I would like to walk down the aisle to a Leonard Cohen song. any ideas ? I have been a Cohen fan since high school and I am now 32 years old. I saw him perform fpr the first time in June 2008 in Montreal .

What about this one
Go No More A-Roving
So we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.
For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul outwears the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.
Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a-roving
By the light of the moon

Re: Getting Married
Hi,
I am getting married next weekend. We are having Dance Me to the end of Love read as a poem at the beginning of the (civil) ceremony and then played as we sign the register and leave. Leonard Cohen's music has been really important to both mine and my partner's lives so we really wanted to get it right but we struggled because lots of Leonard love songs are quite dark and not the love songs that you would want to capture the atmosphere of a wedding ceremony, equally in a registry office in the UK, any religious references were out. we struggled with our first dance in this way too -we wanted nick cave and his songs also are dark we settled eventually for 'are you the one i've been waiting for'.
This poem by byron but sung by leonard, suggested above, is one of my favourites and I really wanted it read at my ceremony but my partner pointed out that it is about death. the problem with weddings is that they are so idealistic and getting the tone right is important.
anyway, i dont know if this is helpful. best wishes for your wedding ! Let us know what you choose!

How about, "Don't go home with your hard-on" ? Seems like good advice.

My son gets married next June at a civil ceremony and he asked if he could have " Hallelujah " and was told that it was not allowed at at civil ceremony because of the religious connection . Has anybody had this kind of problem with Leonards songs

Hi,
I am getting married in October and have been told by our registrar that I can have songs that include religious contect but were not written as a religious song (i/e cant have hymns but the song 'hallelujah' is allowed.
I know some registrars are a bit stricter with this though. Hope that helps
