Questions for LC from a Montrealer (and maybe all of us?)
I am inspired by Leonard's recent visit or this Forum to thank us for our birthday wishes. So I present this thread where if Leonard were to visit again, he might be kind enough to answer some intentionally non-intrusive questions and those inquiries of any one else who cared to join in. This is NOT meant to be a thread to express love and appreciation, relate experience or make comments to LC Rather a place to ask questions of the sort he might be asked in a radio or magazine interview.
Leonard, I wonder if you could tell me;
1. With your relentless depression having moderated, will your future work change to a more optmistic note?
2. Will you be presenting new songs soon?
3. What was the most significent thing you learned from Roshi
4. When will you make us aware of the plans for a third leg of the tour?
5. Is an "official biography" being planned, or indeed now being written?
6. What was your proudest moment? Most disappointing moment? ( aside from the theft?)
7. Your songs are your children. Was there any one of which you would have preferred not to be a part of your family (i.e. not recorded or released)
8 Which are your favorite children ( songs )
8. Do you have a special diet that gives you your abundant energy ?
I will be honored if Forum members also post questions and thereby validate this thread. Then we will be "Waiting for the Miracle"
Thank you, Leonard, with deepest gratitude

I don't want to be a killjoy but it is not realistic to expect him to answer the questions.
The tour takes priority, and there is simply no time for anything else. Remember that he
will not be giving any interviews at all - his management has had to answer "no" to hundreds
and hundreds of requests from the media.

jarkko, you are patient "killjoy"
But thank you for it. And surely thanks this policy we saw and heard him in greatly conditon also in the end of September. I can imagine, how comprehensive has to be to go around the Europe and to be almost every day "on the road", in any citiy, any country. I'm whas-out when I'm two weeks for every day in other hotel.
But still and all - man is a curious.
Mabysee could be good (but cheeky, i know) idea - as late as he will be rested after the tour - ask him for a "non-yellow" little "chat"

But still and all - man is a curious.

What a great idea.
Please ask UK radio and TV legend Alan Partridge to do the interview.

Destiny?
What do you mean?
My thread was just a dream. After being mesmerized by the interveiwws LC has given over the years, I wondered if we could ever hear more. But as Jarkko has said, it wouldn't happen, which is understandable....yet LC did visit the Forum to accept Birthday wishes, so, who knows, maybe another visit.......

I think Minna was just adding a question of her own to the list, as you suggested.
As for me, well... you stipulated "non-intrusive questions" so that leaves me out. Since I've got him and his music all figured out (HA!) I have only inane/inappropriate questions about whether he misses Anjani, his plans for a US Tour, does he sleep on the tour bus or in hotels, how many double breasted pinstripe suits does he own, can he please add a new, pared down version of Memories to the set list, and what is this "half-assed" exercise routine that he spoke of in that interview in Fredericton.

Mnkyface, in Prague he spoke about mirror in his hotel room.mnkyface wrote:As for me, well... you stipulated "non-intrusive questions" so that leaves me out. Re: Questions for LC from a Montrealer (and maybe all of us?)
And his depression, will not be turning back with new tour? Because so long tour could be painful. But on concerts he looks hapilly and satisfied. I hope for it. Because we (all) were also happy to be with him.
Re: Questions for LC from a Montrealer (and maybe all of us?)
If I was Leonard Cohen (what I am not, but hey, I even don't wanna to be.
I'd answer you maybe like this:
1. A more optimistic note was all over Dear Heather record.
2. G-d only knows.
3. "Kone, sing more sadly."
4. You mean the Canadian-US leg or the new European leg?
5. Ira Nadel's Various Positions has been "benignly tolerated" as the "official biography".
6. To a) From today's point of view, I'd say the birth of my children and my grandchild. To b) no, not the theft. There was many of those moments I'd say, but better to keep it private. On the more public level, maybe the moment when Spector's collaboration was released..
7. Humbled in Love. Some of Spector's work was ruined in the process. Also, maybe the outtakes released in 2007.
8. Yes, we call it "love".

My immediate response to reading these questions was to spec the answers as Tom has, but with marginal diferences as follows:leonardmtl wrote:Leonard, I wonder if you could tell me;

8 Which are your favorite children ( songs )
8. Do you have a special diet that gives you your abundant energy ?
1. No. The work has always been as optimistic as it gets.
2. Maybe soon, maybe sometime, maybe never.
3. Who shall serve and who shall eat. And the art of cooking whilst pissed (the drunken English version).
4. Everything in its own time.
5. Not if I have anything to do with it.
6. Women and children, women and children.
7. The "Columbine High" kid in me witnessed all over DOALM.
8. The ones that made the setlist.
9. No. I have a special energy that gives you your abundant diet.

Is that like "does a tree make a sound falling down if there is noone there to hear". Another saying I don't understand.
