Everybody Knows - The British Tour

Post by KorkyKat »

The great poet, songwriter once wrote and sang:

"Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
Thats how it goes
Everybody knows"

With the above in mind I'd like to know who has been fixing the price of tickets for Mr. Cohen's shows? In some of the Manchester shows they are in excess of £75/$150 dollars! And the venue is nothing more than a concrete factory. How does one appreciate his talents in such a large venue?

It seems that, with a few exceptions, they are all 'at it'. By which I mean those who have followed certain groups and artists throughout the years are being ripped off - same with the Eagles. Maybe Lenni will one day write a pay back song or do a few payback gigs.

A swarm of biting fleas on all those who sell them on flea bay.

You know,it's not flea bay that seems to be the problem, but bloody Ticket master and the so called genuine fan site themselves, such as getmein and seatwave. The so called fan to fan ticket selling at face value sites seem to rip you off more!

I agree about Ticket Master. Also a new trick by some of the venues is that operated by Live Nation. Not only do they own the venue, the ticketing sales and artists booking fees, merchandise but they also charge a booking fee at their own box offices!

It would appear that this new model is because artists don't get enough rake-off from cd sales so now venue management companies control the lot. Put simply: there's more money in tours than the good old days of cd promotion - certain artists excepted.

I'd agree. I've sold tickets on ebay before, but have put them them up at face value plus enough to just cover listing costs etc. If people want to outbid each other for tickets that's just lucky, but those that have tickets up for sale within five minutes of them going on sale at 5 times their face value
such as the ticketmaster auction site is an absolute disgrace.

It is near impossible to get good seats for a concert these days even on presale, due to the companies who bulk buy an entire block to then sell £75 tickets for £200 five minutes later. :( All that happens is that people are forced to buy at inflated prices, and then if they have to sell their tickets due to not being able to attend, then also have to sell at inflated prices to try and recoup their own spent money.
