Time honoured

Post by Red Poppy »

In the time honoured
tradition
of this thread
I thought I'd post some free verse
(free to you)
and post a response.........

.......which insures my
original
(and copyrighted) piece of free-verse
(free to you and now hyphenated)
would stay at the top
of the
thread list.............

..........and then I can go on
talking freely
(and free to you)
to myself,
even thought no one else
gives a damn,
(and rightly so)
in lines that form
an odd pattern,
going from the possibly intuitive and occasionally sublime
to
the
ridiculous.......

....and sometimes one goes back
like a man revisiting the site
of a childhood dream
that turned out to be a lie
or a dog searching for a bone
that some other dog has stolen......

.....and sometimes someone comes by
crying ochone (oh my sadness, oh my sorrow, in the Irish tongue)
and my heart is on the verge of breaking
but I find some
tiny
spark of hope out on its

own

and fan it into flame
to somehow keep the home fires burning......

Ochone
Ochone
All alone
Away from my home

The home fires are burning
The earth it is turning
We are all learning
The children are still guerning......
I am a right bad ass, dankish prince and I love my Violet to bits.

...may your Guernsey sweater
keep you warm
when you leave the flame
of your home's hearth
until you return again...

To kindle that spark to shine as the brightest light
The touch of a hand
A baby nursing peacefully
Words as fresh as the dew
The scent of new mown hay
Cords that connect heaven and earth

A familiar phrase from a song my mom (biological) used to sing. http://viablesoftware.com/casey/music/wabash.mp3 She'll kill me for sharing scratchy stuff like this.
