Chelsea Hotel

Post by bascombe »

Hello everyone!

My girlfriend and I are planning to go to NY this summer. We are looking for a hotel... and of course the Chelsea Hotel is the main candidate. It was recently renovated, wasn't it? Would you recommend it? Is it clean and safe? Is it really like the photos of their web http://www.hotelchelsea.com ?

Thank you very much! And I hope you enjoy the tour!

The Chelsea would be a great place to stay in NYC. Well located, not terribly expensive and (unlike when I stayed there) air-conditioned! The Meatpacking district and West Village are both in easy walking distance (check out the Gansvoort Hotel rooftop bar - its the latest "in" scene.) I only stayed at the Chelsea once a verrry long time ago (1974) after a long and bibulous night on the town: started out in the White Horse Tavern (where Dylan Thomas drank) and ended at Max's Kansas City (that will show you how old I am!) too drunk and stoned to drive home we (2 friends and myself) took a cab to the Chelsea and booked a room for the night. Enjoy!

Gees, not a bad price at all considering it's New York city and the history that comes with it. Please tell us about it if you go!
