my less than 4 minute 38 seconds tribute to Geoffrey Wren
when I see posters like Cate boasting that they spend almost 10 minutes composing a poette, I realise it is time to return to speed writing which has the advantage of errr...not taking very long to write. this took 4 minutes 37 seconds
tears came to my trousers as I read the 2 little gems from our resident Norwegian blue, Geoffrey Wren, whose beautiful plumage flaps out of his every line.
here is my tribute to Geoffrey, he is worth all the time I devoted to him
Deeper
Than
a Norwegian fjord
Denser
than a Norwegian
wood
normally write
a bow
tie
s
me to this poet
and invite
s
me to
dinner
jacket
potato
ah Geoffrey
cries
for attention
and we
his
fans
the flames
respond
in adulation
to his
dome-like
head
modelled
on his
Uncle Christopher’s
St Paul’s
What’s a
Damascus
with
you
anyway?

I attach these photos of Geoffrey so you may better understand my poem. First we see Geoffrey as he appeared circa. 1985, then we see Geoffrey disguised as a famous building. Finally we see Geoffrey as he appears in 2008. In all 3 portraits he is wearing his trademark dinner jacket and bow tie (except in the second one when he isn't).

In the interests of equality I now add 2 pictures of myself. In the first and final one I am composing and also pointing in your general direction
the second and final one shows my reaction the first time I ever met Geoffrey
the third and final one shows me about to go to bed
good night everyone

Careful not to hit your head on the ceiling Micheal.
Interesting word associations in your poem.
That could be a fun party game, as long as the wine was flowing well.

thank you, I like words that run onto different meanings. I will be careful but if I do hurt it I hope you will cum and give me head, treatment. that will make me feel better.Cate wrote:Careful not to hit your head on the ceiling Micheal.![]()

I really liked this. Cate is right that would be a really good game/competition to get running. It would have taken me a lot longer than 4 mins 38 secs.
It reminded me of a clapping game we used to play.
Ching Chong Chinaman sitting on the grass,
Along came a bumblebee and stung him on his..
Ask no questions, tell no lies,
I saw a policeman doing up his...
flies are a nuisance, bugs are even worse,
And this is the end of my Chinese verse.

Yes Michael - that game would need to take more then 4 minutes 37 seconds as impressive as that time is there are others of us who might take a little longer.
Really? I've never really noticed that about you - now I'm starting to wonder if you do that in some of your postings ... oh and regarding your potential head injury - no worries my friend, no worries I've got my handy dandy virtual first aid kit right here.mickey_one wrote:thank you, I like words that run onto different meanings.

We used to play one very similar,Paula wrote:I really liked this. Cate is right that would be a really good game/competition to get running. It would have taken me a lot longer than 4 mins 38 secs.

ah, memories! I don't share the same first 2 lines and yours have driven mine away for now. our version had the superior rhythm ofPaula wrote:I really liked this. Cate is right that would be a really good game/competition to get running. It would have taken me a lot longer than 4 mins 38 secs.

nope, just can't sort it.
re: your "Andy Pandy (pic below for ignorant foreigners) virtuous first aid get your kit off" can you explain just why you are placing the 12 inch tubular bandage precisely there when the injury was to my head?

thank you for your poem which took me under one minute to read. i am by no means fussy, but before entering a restaurant in which i plan to dine i have the habit of first inspecting the rear of the premises. should there be a lot of mess (e.g. old furniture, crates of empty bottles, overflowing dustbins and other untidyness likely to attract rats, etc.), i tend to shy away and look for an alternative place - one that is more inclined to have a higher standard of hygiene. look behind a person's nice face and you will often see their nasty little mind. difficult for the untrained, of course, but not impossible. studying somebody else's poetry, for example, allows one a glimpse into the writer's personality - and a decision can be made as to whether or not one wishes to use time mentally engaged with that particular 'author'. this paragraph took me about two minutes to compose, making a total of three minutes spent on you - or the time it took to soft-boil my egg.

3 minutes? that's not soft-boil, that is runny and yukky. your toasted soldiers would be covered with runny yuk not yoke. in England there is a school of thought that says the singing of Onward Christian Soldiers allows the perfect timing for a perfect boiled egg. whilst this may seem tough on atheists they do not deserve to eat anyway.

Oh yes I meant to talk to you about that.
Michael when I'm trying to wrap up your head, could you please stop bouncing and keep your paws still.
Look, I've got one of your paws wrapped up in your head gear.
Really - You must stop drinking so much coffee!
Cate
Oh the guy in the other picture - fell out of bunk bed
