New (4th) concert in Toronto announced!
Re: New (4th) concert in Toronto announced!
Saw the announcement/article in google alerts today: http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/article/428026
I loved reading these parts:
Now after several concerts in the Atlantic provinces, he is ecstatic about how well it's going and the reception he has been getting.
"Leonard is having a wonderful time," Kory says. "And the demand is so great all over the world – Europe, Australia, South Africa – this could go on for two years."
I'm so glad he's having great time. One can see it in his stage presence even in the jumpy YouTube videos. He looks so much more relaxed on stage than I've ever seen him (granted I've only seen video of earlier tours but he often looked a little, I don't know, stressed/annoyed by audience). I do hope the fun continues...that he doesn't get exhausted...and that the transition to the larger arena type venues is smooth.
and:
Kory created a bubble to protect Cohen, with a ban on interviews and backstage visitors.
It's reassuring to know, after the legal/financial trouble, that he is surrounded by people who treat him with this kind of respect and care.

Re: New (4th) concert in Toronto announced!
The good treatment on the tour is indeed very reassuring. Good job guys!
Another announcement of interest re Toronto -- got an email today from the Drabinski gallery that they will have selection of Cohen art on view from June 4 to June 11. Worthwhile for fans that haven't viewed the art pieces in person.

The name is Drabinsky. The owner of the gallery is involved in a major fraud trial right now. It is quite distasteful.
Re: New (4th) concert in Toronto announced!
Ohh, I'm so excited - I keep saying that!
I work within walking distance of the Drabinsky gallery. I've already marked in my calender to work from the office that day and I strongly suspect that I will be taking a very long lunch. I wish one of my office mates liked Leonard in more than a 'that's very nice, Cate' , kind of way. Thanks so much for pointing it out Dick - how terrible would it be for his art to be so close and NOT go see it.

Re: New (4th) concert in Toronto announced!
Anne is of course right about the spelling and the fact that Mr. D appears guilty of some very fradulent practices with Livent. The artwork by Cohen, however, is worth a trip anywhere.
Re: New (4th) concert in Toronto announced!
I just checked Ticketmaster, almost a full day after these went on sale, and pulled up 2 FRONT ROW tickets for the 4th Toronto show. This could have been a fluke but it might mean that there are a bunch of great seats still available for this just-added show.
I was only checking out of curiousity - we already have great seats for Kitchener and Hamilton and can't afford $250 a pop for a 3rd concert that week. However I thought I'd let you all know just in case some of you are still without tickets for the tour.
Cheers

Re: more on the art show
Stopped by the gallery this afternoon -- and was blown away that this year they have five originals on display. Some torn from the sketchbook with spiral binding holes still there.
Linda Book said she was thrilled to have them -- and remarked that Leonard, with his typical generosity, had said he wanted to provide something new for repeat visitors from last year.

Stop by and drop your jaw if you're near!

I have always wanted to see the originals, so I will make a point of stopping by the gallery sometime. That is really good to know! Very cool.
