egg

Post by funkymonkey »

There was a circle,
a sphere, a round
bubble egg shell.

A humble womb
with room
for two.

Twin chickens;
yoke in yoke-
A gemini's evil joke.

Crackle coal
the devils stoke
and poke.

Jinks buy me a Coke.
(When your heart is
also broke.)

Hi funkymonkey ~

Welcome to the Forum :D ! Do you attach yourself to a particular breed?

When I read your ditty, the term "jabberwocky" came to mind. I can't recall its literal definition, but I mean it as a compliment, and it seems to go really well with both your chosen moniker and your word/image/structural choices in your poem.

Jabberwocky
Lewis Carroll 1871

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

'Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!'

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought-
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

'And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

a gabby jabby

Post by funkymonkey »

The jabberwock
sat on a rock
eating her curds and whey.

When out jumped
a tulip which
took up a pencil

And scared the
jabby away.

Or something like that...

Welcome to the forum, funkymonkey, and may you enjoy the company of so many beamish girls and boys of all ages as much as I enjoyed this quick exchange of jabberwocky lines...

And don't ever let you scare away from here like the jabby you just pulled out of a mad hatters magic hat... or something like that... :P :D

Well, much obliged, tom.d.stiller-
-good to be on board, I reckon.

Glad to have a killer
for the wocky that doth beckon.

(Over there with the
crooked finger and a white
beard from Santa's billy goat.)
