Award Nominations

Post by Poohbear »

Hello everyone. My name is Tracy and I am a Canadian, proud that Leonard Cohen is also. Unfortunately once again this year Canada's Walk of Fame ignored Leonard Cohen and failed to induct him with his own star. I don't wish to see another year go by without Mr. Cohen being honoured in this way so I am asking everyone who would also like to see Mr. Cohen receive this honour to take five minutes, visit the Walk of Fame site and make a nomination for Leonard Cohen to receive his star in 2004. Thank you everyone. http://www.canadaswalkoffame.com

Hi Pooh I have made my nomination. He will be 70 next year he deserves to win an award for the enjoyment he has given so many over the years. Thanks for the link, good idea  Although I am not sure it will count it said Candian citizens. Still worth a bash.

I have also gone and voted, with my reasoning attached. Pray the judges may have both wisdom and common sense. Thanks for letting us know, Poohbear.

I voted again for the third year in a row. I cannot understand the logic of the choices. Toller Cranston? Linda Evangelista? And NOT Leonard Cohen?!!!

Welcome to the forum. I hope that your first post will not be your last.

While I think LC is deserving of awards, etc I think that Leonard himself is more concerned with living his own life than achieving awards. He has always endeavoured to produce quality works forsaking the path of quantity.

The way I saw it, it is not necessary to state where the nominator is from, so I left thet bit out just in case :D Perhaps we should visit the site every day and just keep voting!!

Welcome to the forum, Poohbear. May you enjoy being here, Tracy, and may your future posts be both numerous and interesting. Thanks for your first contribution.

Maybe that people from many different countries nominate Leonard will even help, because it proves his "international impact on Canada's cultural heritage".

Hi Poohbear ~

I just want to add that any post you make will somehow be interesting to someone :D . It's a reliable fact of life! I mostly hope you'll continue posting. I have a cat named Pooh, by the way. She's wonderful.

my selfishness

Post by Poohbear »

Hello everyone. Thank you for taking the time to nominate Leonard for the Canada's Walk of Fame. I understand that this acknowledgement may mean very little to Mr. Cohen, but selfishly, I want to see the man get honoured in my country - I think it's important for Canada - a source at times for his inspiration - to say "thank you" and to understand the impact he has made around the world. Personally I know my life has been touched by his music and his words - to such an extent that I would be living it differently if it were not for him. Thank you again. Tracy.

Hi Poohbear/Tracy ~

I also hope that Leonard wins this recognition this year. Your post is a great testimony to artists' never knowing the far-reaching impact of their words and work.

Hi Poohbear!

Love your moniker! When I chose my avatar I almost picked a Pooh! But decided on the duckling instead. I know you must be proud to be a Canadian as Leonard is as well! But what a shame that he has not received his due recognition from his native soil. A man who has touched so many around the world with his poetry. I fully intend to vote EVERY day. :) How wonderful it would be if the Forum members actions precipitated our Leonard being the 2004 nominee. And how thrilling to see him receive the award!
