Good time in Toronto???

Post by wtom »

Now that those of us headed to Toronto have tickets in hand, can anyone suggest interesting places for a Leonard fan? There will be plenty of us there on June 6 to 8. Somewhere that a fifty-somethingish Cohen fan can have some drinks and enjoy like-minded people would be nice. Maybe we could take over some place for the duration of Leonard's time in Toronto.
Suggestions??? Actually I could see this happening where all the multiple dates occur.

Do you mean for just drinks or to eat as well before the show. I know plently of places give me some addtional ideas on the type of venue and drink prices you are thinking about and I can recommend some sites in Toronto. I know the city fairly well!

Hmm. . . How about some place with good music that doesn't overwhelm you, where adults can still have conversations without any children or rowdy college-bar scene types around, enjoy a good meal and pleasant company. If we were talking Eire I would say a nice pub type atmosphere. I would think that if it would have to appeal to a longtime Leonard fan that a good many places could be eliminated right off.
We are staying downtown but are flexible about where to go as long as it would be a fun experience. You can't google places and indicate that you are looking for a Leonard Cohen fan hang-out but it sounds like a good idea especially since a lot of people are likely to be travelling - which to me makes Leonard's tour even more entertaining. I would have loved to go see him in Amsterdam (dates didn't work out) - I would bet there might be a few coffeeshops in Amsterdam - which by the way don't exactly sell coffee - that a few of Leonard's fans from back in the 60s might be interested in visiting.
Offer whatever suggestions you think would be of interest to LC fans. I know that we are a mixed bag but share a love for LC and his music/message.
