OVERPRICED TICKETS ? MAYBE NOT

Post by VELOVERMONT »

Many fans,in different topics related to Leonard's forthcoming concerts, complain about overpricing.
I have a pair of tickets for the june 23 in Montreal, row E of the parterre, which is the second best category. The price is 352$.

Last year, also part of the Montreal jazz festival, I went to see Bob Dylan at exactely the same venue, that is Place des Arts. I had a similar pair of tickets ,also in the second best category, albeit way back in the Y row.The price was 358$.

So Leonard's management is in line with the competition (assuming Leonard and Dylan are equivalent competition).
Since Dylan has been touring on a yearly basis ( the Never Ending Tour going on since 1989) and Leonard is touring for the first time in 15 years, probably Leonard's tickets are UNDERPRICED considering the rarity of his appearances.

Velovermont:
What planet are you on? How can you compare the length between a persons last gig and the face value as somehow related? Costs are costs. 250 canadian dollars is LUDICROUS given the fact that Leonard is a Canadian-he should be more loyal to his home fans. When someone told me what Canadians were paying i was shocked. I got Edinburgh tickets today for only 100 canadian dollars each.
You work it out cos i can't.

Sorry, IMMA is the Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, where the June 14/15 shows are.... 115 euros for the best seats there (& 88 euros for the cheapest...)

I've paid £75, plus £11 book fees and postage for an O2 Arena ticket and £80, including booking fees for Manchester. It's more than I've ever paid to see anyone...but I'm willing to pay it. I've never seen Leonard live, despite being a fan since the 70s.

The thing that always gripes me about booking tickets online is the booking fees. For the 2 tickets I bought for O2 Arena I've paid almost £20 in fees.

Get your calculator out my friend : I posted that I paid 350 $ can dollars for a pair of tickets. That is 175 $ can.each.
You say you paid the equivalent of 100 $ can.each.That is not that big a difference...and that difference might be explained by the seating : I am in row E of the orchestra : TOP TICKETS ! I could have bought lower quality tickets for 101 $ can each. Same price as in Edinburgh. And there is no risk to be rained out in Montreal !

Dylan tours incessantly, doesn't use well known musicians and in the down time keeps his band on a retainer. This means his tour costs are relatively low (no set up costs/playing cheaper venues etc.). Imagine the costs for LC of setting up this tour, with this band not knowing for sure if the audience is still there (after all the records aren't blockbuster sellers!) .. The concerts are a bargain at £75.... pay the man for his work.

What whinging....its only fecking money. Leonard Cohen is in his seventies and is highly unlikely to be touring again, so this is our only chance to share time and space and to sing along with him...pay up and enjoy it..muppets

Well,
Looking at how you price this experience, depending on your annual income
it seems the rich are able to enjoy
while us poor poets of mind
stay alone
in the surrounding streets
together

we maybe ugly
but we have the music

in our hearts if not our eyes

all the best to those with seats...
do not waste a minute!
x.x.
