Bennicassim or Passeio Maritimo

Post by st theresa »

If you had to choose one of these venues to see Leonard, which one would you choose and why? Am travelling in Spain and Portugal when Leonard Cohen is set to be there--I can plan my trip around one of these concerts. I tried to look up Passeio Maritimo and could find no info online.

Hello! Lisbon concert will be at Passeio Maritimo de Algés, 10 m by train from Lisbon downtown (Cais do Sodré Railway Station) ...not the best venue for a Leonard's concert (well it's a big open space near theTejo River) but...
Coliseu dos Recreios Lisboa 1988, Passeio Marítimo de Algés Lisboa 2008, Pav. Atlântico Lisboa 2009, Pav. Atlântico Lisboa 2010 (Meet Cohen at a cafe on the main Lisbon's avenue on the concert's eve), Pav. Atlântico Lisboa 2012

Thanks for your response blue bird--sounds like two venues that might not be worth worrying about.
I can wait and see if he shows up at the Edmonton folk fest I guess. At least that venue is only 10 minutes from my home if I have to hang around outside, I can ride my bike home if it gets too much.

I can't help thinking that an open air Leonard Cohen gig in Summer by the Tejo is a far better bet than the O2 Arena in London, where I live. I've not been to the O2 but it's an enormous space and, according to various people, devoid of atmosphere. In fact I could probably get to the Passeio Maritimo quicker anyway, since the O2 is on the other side of town. What's so bad about it blue_bird?

Ok Nickw! The most important thing at this moment is the Leonard's return to Lisbon after last concert in June 1988 at Coliseu dos Recreios de Lisboa, twenty years ago. When I wrote " is not the best venue to a leonard's concert" I want to say that space is not a tradicional venue with seats and so on...probably everybody will be standing during the 3 hours concert...Lisbon in July is really, really hot believe me, and ok...the Tejo River so close can be very nice...tickets maybe will be available next week! ;-)

Passeio Maritimo is your best choice, definitely.
Mine too..., anyway... :D

Olá to everyone who will see him in Lisbon
I got tickets to see Leonard in Toronto (closer to home, I live in Massachusetts) but now I also want to see him in Lisbon. I know that one night will not be enough... and I wanted to take Filipa, my 14 yr old daughter. She has had no choice but to listen to to Leonard since she was born ;-)
If you know anything about the sales in Lisbon, please please tell this newbie.
It is great to see so many Portuguese fans here.
