This "lousy little poet" feels compelled to offer up another piece of raped language in view of recent posts. this was written in 1991.
Tyranny Factory
Authority, society, bloody minded bureaucracy.
Tyranny factory, law and order irony.
Pumping up the fear in me, to never set a spirit free.
Conditioned here to blindly be; history's imprinted legacy.
Imprints from daddy's, daddy's, daddy's, daddy,---.
Do what your told boy and keep your nose clean,
Don't talk back or I could get real mean.
Tyrant in the workplace, tyrant in your bed,
Tyrant in the government, a tyrant in your head.
The leader of the family
The General in the army
The foreman at the factory
The executive in the company
The minister in the vestry
the politician in the party
Pecking order mentality
Supressing original artistry.
The master and his dog
The farmer and his hog
The imperialist with his wog.
In the machine we are a cog
With religion as a drug
Grey matter in a fog.
Man with his woman,
Father with his son.
The teacher with her pupil,
The soldier with his gun.
Careful;- if you rock the boat,
You may end up on the run.
I'm in charge because I'm right.
Because I'm strong I rule by might.
I'll keep the reins and hold on tight.
Until my dying day I'll fight.
To be seen and not heard,
Beaten but remaining undeterred.
Spare the rod and spoil the child
And never let a dog run wild.
And so it thrives from year to year,
From plough to sword and back to plough.
To see this fact;- the buck stops here.
Repeat the same, or end it, now!

a piece of my history,
Tyranny Factory

Thank you for posting this poem, which is full of memories.
I reckon it's part of everyone's history, and some around here are obviously trying to take it part of our present again.
But we "won't repeat the same", nor "end it now". We'll keep on trying, we'll let our "dog run wild". I'll do at least.

Tyranny
Your welcome Tom.
Yes I think it is good to look your history in the eye. If you can face down your demon then it has no power over you.
Cheers,
