Excellent job of judging, Laurie... I
know how difficult it was! Even so, I'm very pleased with the results. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it ~ I'm so glad that somebody was you

. No question on First Place

.
Now, you can focus solely on Italy... poor dear

I hate to interrupt such reparte but I will to sort of claim Poem A. Actually, I did not send the correct iteration to Liz, typical of me these days, but even revised it isn't much better. The next to last line should be:
"Remembering a few bring no warm memory, but"
And thus the first letters of each line would spell 'Ti Amore'. Ah, me, I shall go on, albeit with my head a little lower for a few hours and a smirk on me face........ 'Tha bes lai plae o mi i mahn ging aft aglay' (if that's somewhat close to Middle English as I remember that).

Hi Nightstalker~
Terribly clever! the double-entendre of 'love letters' and the Italian version of "love letters"

I missed the acronym potential while judging. Of course now that you point it out it is obvious.
Good piece! And again, love the double entendre!
Laurie
p.s. Almost forgot-Thanks Liz for your support.

I add my thanks to both of you, Lizzy and Laurie, for the work you put in. I had never seriously tried to write a poem before and enjoyed the challenge and the therapy of doing it, even though I moaned a lot.
Have a great time in Italy, Laurie. I doubt that I will arrive in Alaska with your mini before you return from your travels, but I'll try to put a spurt on.

Thanks Diane. You should consider playing with poetry more often, now that you got your toe in the water...It does 'hurt so good'
congrats again,

Cheers, Laurie. Well, I will, at least, eventually, aim to finish the two poems I started and abandoned whilst preparing for this comp. Ta for your encouragement.

Thanks Laurie for all the hard work in judging the contest. A job well done.

P.S. and thanks to Lizzie for the hassle of gathering them all together.

Thank you, Charles... and Michael... and Laurie... and all you writers of poetry! I still need to comment on them, as well as the remainder of the short stories that preceded them

Shhhhhhh Mikey! You'll get your split of the prize money, but we don't want it to get out that this whole thing was a fix. Let's hope the story about Laurie having "gone to Italy" holds.
Oh hell, I think I may need a good lawyer.
