The top 3 poems are revealed here...

Post by LaurieAK »

Hi~

Thanks much to everyone who took the time and effort to participate in the contest!! Great poems. Very imaginative and varied, the latter a welcome surprise considering the rather narrow (I thought) topic. But you all went inside and outside the box and Done Real Good 8)

I asked Liz to give the submitted poems a random letter label so that there was no 'telling' which poems came in early or later. And I received them all at once after the deadline passed.

Thanks Lizz for the efforts in collecting and passing the poems on.

It was difficult (once again) to judge. Trying to weigh every piece against the topic, the other poems and its overall quality is not an exact science. I repeat, it's Really difficult to pick a winner. And just as difficult to narrow it down to a second and third place. But, them's the rules and that is what I did.

Thanks again!

Laurie

Laurie, TY for being 'Tha Judge'! You did a great job and I love all three deserving winners.

Also, TY Liz for doing all the scut work! At least you had the opportunity to be the first reader of some good works.

You're welcome, NS. I was glad to do it.

I'll try to find time to sit down and make some comments on the entries. And I hope others find time to do the same.

Folks can step forward and claim their poem(s) whenever they'd like. I still don't know who wrote what. And only know Diane 'won' because she raised her hand 8)

regards,
Laurie

did you guess it was mine?

It may have been too subtle for you, Laurie. Q is an O with a tail. O, of course, stands for "love" in tennis, and I added a tale to make it an interesting read. O also is the first letter of Old. So, altogether it was Old Love Letters. But you just couldn't see it, could you.

Oh!! So the part about making all that "racket" was referring to Tennis. Now I get it!! You're right. It lobbed right over my head!!

I suppose this is where I should admit I never went to High School (?) Hehe.

Game Set and Match, Miss (blimey' I've genuinely forgotten your last name, but it's something fairly exotic isn't it. I promsie to let you know when I remember, meantime do NOT panic, Laurie. We will get you out of this situation safely...something like Thingy Flockhart, the actress in Ally Mcthingy, yes?)

Huh??

I never watched Ally McBeal. So your subtle humorous reference is Lost on me. Such a waste. sigh.

I've never watched it either but it does star Calisity Flockhart or something like that, can't be bothered to look it up.

O. I see it is a streamofconscious exercise on re-discovering my last name. NOW I see.

It starts with an E and ends with an OUT.

WHY this is important, is again, lobbed over me head!

(calista-i think)

However, i do wonder if it is a red herring and it is the "Miss" that is important?

What do i care??!?? I bought the dreamiest damned pair of black leather loafers yesterday for my feet occupy in their tour of Italy in exactly 2 weeks...
Did you say something??
