Linda, Linda,

This was tooo haaarrd (my whiniest voice).

Are you sure Black Sabbath Vol. 4 is not a GP?

What about instrumental Celtic music?

I have CATS on cd. Is that GP?
Joan Jett's Greatest hits?
Enya?
aerosmith?

I am a guilt-machine!

Aaahh yes. I've given consideration to your previous question. And my answer is: Yes, indeed, consider the rose. Or lily, if you'd rather.

The Chicago of the 1980s! That's a real guilty pleasure! In the 60s and 70s they were a jazz-rock fusion group, combining horns with guitars, and they rocked. Their albums were awesome. The band was considered avante-garde. But in the 80s they got cheesey with schlock-rock love balladry. Chicago 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 were their worst albums.

It boggles the mind that a group like Chicago could actually make that many albums!! They have to be GP when they start numbering their albums in the double digits.

Well, I have noticed that my energy levels go up at the gym when they play Can't Get You Out Of My Head by Kylie Minogue. But what's more worrying is that the other day I caught myself hollerin' Yes Sir, I can Boogie (you know the Baccarra song?!)at the top of my lungs as I shuffled and twisted around the kitchen while cooking. Very cathartic.

laurie, even though an indie band like franz ferdinand can rip-off so many other 70s rock tunes, they did it well! i like that song, too. if you want some more retro rip-offs, check out the darkness, jet, the hives, and the strokes.

T~

Thanks for the referals. I am a HUGE White Stripes fan. I heard of those other bands you mentioned along with their Stripes in the past. I'll check them out.

BTW, i read just the other the WS have just finished their latest album and it should be out soonish. (yay)

Their cover of Jolene is amazing, if you haven't heard it. And anything they cover by Dylan becomes one of my faves.

Tom~
Definately a GP (of the highest order). 8)

yyyyyyyeeaaaaaahhh, i guess white stripes are okay. haha. i didn't like them at first for their minimalism, but some of their songs rock. i'm always weary of retro rip-off rock because it's hard to tell if they're just trying to copy what was successful or if they're playing that music because they absolutely love it.

but i just thought of another guilty pleasure: BUTT-ROCK!

Actually when I first listened to my "GP in the first degree" I was 7 years old. I didn't know anything about what the GB were doing, but I liked the tune. (I still find myself whistling it now and then.)

Now the words... I believe there is an anti-War version of that song, but I can't find it. Help!

"soldiers who wanna be heroes:
number is practically zero,
but there are millions
who wanna be civilians"
:)

Cheers
tom
