Of course, my inclination would be to wait until I've seen enough evidence of sarcasm before making a comment labeling something as such. Extraordinary that I would make one right out of the gate, without it. A rash move.
You're precious, too... of course; and who would've thought that grandmothers and those overprotective of the needy are the only ones ever glad to see someone not be offended... and who would've thought you need to "own" someone to experience such a feeling. Since others should presumably[?] hope for the reverse, the grandmothers and the overprotective ones really oughta share their terrain and let some of the rest of us feel glad over something that's good.

here's "something that's good", treating people like adults. try it sometime.
Re: The three coffins
Ooooooooooooooo... snarly. I'm guessing you hold yourself as the gold standard for how adults treat adults? Interesting, Michael.
I'll stick to my way, but thanks for your suggestion of an 'upgrade.' I've noted that this is your opinion.
Curious who it was who said Seadove was needy or offended.

I know it may shock you but over here they let people vote for members of parliament even though these electors are nowhere near the gold standard for political knowledge. crazy themselves, huh! what hypocrisy!
once I even heard a non soccer player criticise a mistake by David Beckham! what a hypocrite!
Re: The three coffins
And, of course, Geoffrey, you know it's not about a 'who-do-you-like-best, generally speaking' contest, at least not for me; for me, it's about expressing discontent about a pattern I'm seeing repeated at a grinding rate, and in doing that, not surprisingly coming under fire myself.
I hold to there being room here for my non-attacking communication style, at the same time that I maintain the right to express discontent on a style that typically [with a few, ongoing exceptions] lacks even a modicum of respect for the person whose posting is being used as a makeshift stage. So, call me grandmother; I've been called worse

So funny, until I saw what you wrote there was something I have never considered.
The last strong picture I have of you in my mind is when you were riding a bike through downtown Montreal on a Saturday evening with your hair blowing wild in the wind and your dress waving freely. When I saw what you wrote above it occurred to me that grandparents are not what they use to be and can probably be playing a much more active role in the community than what we are accustomed to.

i'm sorry i put an 'e' on the end of 'develop'. unlike you, i live in a non-english environment. therefore there is an increased likelihood that i will, from time to time, make a spelling error. because for virtually every word in your vocabulary, i have two words. i work with a double set of rules, including differencies in grammar, nuance, etc. this is a whole world of which you, being monolinguistic (except perhaps for an odd sentence or two useful for a tourist trying to impress) would be totally unacquainted. correcting a spelling mistake of mine is equal to an imbecile toilet attendant pointing out to a brain surgeon that there is a fly on his arm.

Re: The three coffins
There are things to consider here Geoffrey. The toilet attendant is probably there because he is in need of your dimes, so why not be polite and just give him one. Don't just throw it either, at first you might think that he only needs your dimes but consider that there are other people in his life who may be counting on him for more than dimes and so he also needs some sense of dignity. You never can tell in this world, there may come a day when someone leaves behind something valuable where the attendant works and it might make a big difference to others what he does with it.Geoffrey wrote: correcting a spelling mistake of mine is equal to an imbecile toilet attendant pointing out to a brain surgeon that there is a fly on his arm.
