Hallelujah - Where is this from?
They sentenced me to twenty years of boredom
ZDF (German TV), 1985, press tour for album (without band - February or March). It's circulating on one of Jarkko's DVDRs.

Oh yes, another reminder that Leonard never sings the same song twice, the lyrics here do not match any of the three versions here.

Re: Hallelujah - Where is this from?
I dont know about any of you, but I have a sneeking suspicion that our Leonard is not singing live in this video. Dont know, maybe its just me

New York (Joe's Pub), April 24th 2007 / Dublin, June 14th 2008 / Dublin, June 15th 2008 / New York, February 19th 2009 / Dublin, July 20th 2009 / Barcelona, September 21st 2009 / Sligo...here I come!
Re: Hallelujah - Where is this from?
Of course not, that was press tour, for the album release, not the live tour with the band. He is lip-syncing on studio track from Various Positions. But nevertheless, it's amazingly elaborate set, done by ZDF TV.

I was only kidding Tom. It's obvious he was lip syncing. Great vid all the same.

I like the tiny trace of self-conscious irony on his face

You're dead right Tom. He may appear stoney-faced, but just like with his songs, you just have to look a little closer to see what's really going.

Re: Hallelujah - Where is this from?
It was performed in a very popular television show called "Wetten dass...?", which is broadcasted (in German-speaking countries) about 6 times a year. The two attractions of the show are bets and celebrity guest.
Back in 1985 the inventor of the show, Frank Elstner, hosted the show.

Hi Penny Dainty ~

!! I see, too, that you have two posts at this point, so you've definitely got the hang of it
.
Yankovic ~ Thanks for posting this and I'm glad you got your answer. Watching it again this morning is one of the many reminders how none are so exciting or profoundly satisfying for me than Leonard singing his own songs.
