I'm listening to the first one right now, David, and liking it very much. I like your voice and the echoing/layering[?] of it and some alternate melody that comes in, maybe in a bridge? I'm not musically knowledgeable to be able to properly term with the correct terms what I like and why, so I hope you can ferret out what I'm referring to. You obviously play out
.
Listening to the second one now. I like the romantic slant of your songs. As I recall at your Manchester [Gallery] get-together, you played for your Forum friends, but had some kind of electronic difficulty [feedback?]. I hope they were still able to hear the loveliness that I'm hearing. I'm just finishing with the last one. You appear to be younger than I had taken you to be.
Thanks for your link, David.

Re: my songs on myspace
hey thanks for listening and for your kind comments Lizzy
the vocals are double-tracked (which means I sang the same tune over twice, which gives it more resonance) and also there are harmonies as well
I'm, ahem, 45 years old at the current time

Hi David ~
Yeah, okay, the double-tracked is what I meant by layering. I heard some harmonies, too, but didn't mention them. The 'alternate melody' in a 'bridge'[?] is still in there, too.
I enjoy listening to what people who have participated here in other ways have brought to share. Not much for someone just dropping in to drop off their stuff, though. Not to say I don't listen, but it's never a priority.
Really... maybe it's not so obvious because of the distance of the photo. Or, maybe that's a photo from a while back? I checked your would-be photos, but just got the generic, advert page with other things, because you apparently have put anything in your photos section.

dang it, this self-promotion thing is tiresome
Re: my songs on myspace
Your persistence paid off, I finally had a listen.
A nice nostalgic sound. Very folksy, 60's-like.
I do think the layering of sound for the most part does not enhance the work as a whole since it tends to have a monotone quality already, the overlay almost gives it a too slowed down sound to my ears. I'd rather hear the single voice with harmony added to break up the steady flow.
Don't mean for this to be a the complaint department. I did enjoy it.
regards,
Laurie

Re: my songs on myspace
thanks Laurie
I tend to agree with your comments, as I said, these recordings are quite old, from early 2005, my style these days is more stripped down and stark which gives a more intimate feel, but unfortunately I don't have stuff of sufficient sound quality to put in the public domain as yet
but thanks for listening
