i quite like katie melua, a lot of people are always criticising her and giving her a hard time. i think its cos shes young and not singing about being 'hot' and 'free' and not mentioning the word 'bootie' in any of her songs

Not sure on this, but I always thought In My Secret Life was in some way connected to "Give me back my broken night, my mirrored room, my secret life...", the opening lyrics of the song, The Future.

Then again, could be way off track.

Considering the fact that both songs were written more or less simultaneously, you're probably right. That was my first idea when I heard In My Secret Life also (after all, it's direct use of the same line). Only later I learned that Leonard recited lyrics of In My Secret Life at least twice during 1988 tour, so that song maybe was started even before The Future.

Well, it is such a time since I last posted on here as "LittleVoice" that my Password wasn't recognised and I had to re-register!

The good news is, that it is now OFFICIAL the delightful Katie Melua has a cover of Leonard's "My Secret Life" in the can and it will be on her third album "PICTURES" to be released on 1st October 2007.

Who says that your wishes never come true, I have heard a couple of tracks from her new album which Katie first aired at gigs in Frankfurt and so far "What I Miss About You" is my favourite, until her version of "My Secret Life" is available!

I am surprised that there was not more reaction to my news that a young lady, Katie Melua, aged 22, had recorded a cover of Leonard's wonderful song "In My Secret Life".

I think she will do the song justice, as she has loved it for at least two years and I can't wait until 1st October when Katie's Album "PICTURES" is officially released.

Incidentally Dramatico, Katie's Record Label, also handled UK Distribution of Carla Bruni's latest album, as someone here mentioned that Carla had also covered "In My Secret Life".
