Dear Byron,
Thankyou for your kind, sensitive remarks. But how did you know I eat porridge? As far as I recall, you've never been in my bothy, but I'll be happy to defrost, for you and your bairns, a slab of home-made porridge, if you ever visit Edinburgh (the cultural Tundra). .

Dear JTS,
"I could get paranoid and say it's cos I look like him" (sic), referring to Meatloaf, not Georges.
Well, what can I possibly say, apart from submitting this "evidence" to the GENOME RESEARCH PROJECT, which can be located on another string  .

Dear Jo,
You are absolutely right! It's a succinct summation of yours truly, being born under the sign of Cancer. .

Yours, in combinations,
Andrew.

I didn't get that either, George....thanks for clarifying  ~ I shoulda. I really like the "objects in the rear view mirror...." option. Can we just go with both?

As for Paula H's decree ~ so much for controlling the course of a thread  .

Andrew you 've destroyed my faith in astrology. What you seem to be saying are Cancerian traits I have always believed to be very typical Virgo traits - and there certainly are plenty of us Virgos around here to attest to that - except Pete, he has all the good Virgo attributes without the messy ones. 8)

and predictable

I am becoming predictable am I Mr Pot?
If growing up means becoming more like you I think I will remain in Neverland, after all Wendy does go some way to sating my desire for little girls.
As for Tysh Darling how dare you go around libelling me like that? I never said we made up, nor has Tysh Darling to the best of my knowledge. On reflection though it would appear that she is making some progress. In earlier times she would just assume she did understand something, often when all the evidence pointed elsewhere. We should all draw some comfort from that.

"We...all" are not nearly as invested in this as you, dear p, who couldn't even get a simple sentence right, regarding Judith  .

Good grief Tysh Darling, is that all you have? One small instance of a slight misreading of grammar which in no way invalidated the point i subsequently made. And i acknowledged it. Put this against thread after thread a while ago where you would TELL people they did not mean what they said. Where you ascribed meanings to them that they denied and were nowhere to be found in the grammar. You know full well i am not the only person to tell you this. I think i may be the last though as you do seem to have got much better recently. I just hope you keep taking the medication, rather like your mentor.

I'm caught out by my own sense of humour - Objects in the rear view mirror is another Meatloaf song.

P, you should remain in neverland
and persue young girls
they are the only ones who will listen to you
providing you have sweets
your welcomes are like the kiss of the spiderwoman
and your venom is distastefull
persue your girls and never grow up
but beware the crocodile
for it has sharp teeth
and yours are blunted by overuse of your own venom
which cloud your partisan feelings of who the hell are you fighting for?
Regards.................Georges

Partisan ~

No, as a matter of fact, that's not all I have.....however, it is the most recent that comes to mind. In fact, if you acknowledged it, I do not see where. The rest I won't bring to bear, as it's as moot as the suppositions/allegations you make regarding my ability/inability to understand and communicate effectively.

However, there is something that is blatantly of far greater import, with regard to what you said in your Sat May 17, 2003 11:08 am post. For all that you have ever said to me/to others regarding me and/or my postings/comments ~ none of my comments have anywhere near approached the poor taste and absolute inappropriateness of your cavalier comment regarding "sating my desire for little girls." You have made similar comments in the chatroom.

As someone who has worked with victims of sexual assault/abuse and incest/molestation, I seriously say to you that this is neither humorous nor appropriate. With confidence I tell you that, in today's world as in years gone by, there are readers [and not just females] here who have been victims of at least one/all of what I have noted. Your flippancy minimizes the trauma of their experience and the impact on their lives, and that of many other victims who do not come here.

Whoever you presume your audience to be for making light of such serious an issue, you would do well to rethink what's coming from you, before you assess, and comment upon, what's coming from others.

Partisan - welcome to the cellar and the Amontillado. Everything more I could say to you right now would really be insulting, and I'd have to force myself to get down to your level... I'd rather choke...

Ah well, John, I obviously was never a huge Meatloaf afficionado....never even heard of that one, though I might recognize it if I heard it. Take the credit anyway......at least you thought of it  .

Lizzy

'twasn't thought that did it it was a meatloaf night on one of the cable channels - I look at the listings waiting for a LC night but, so far, to no avail.

BTW: Anybody know what tracks accompany the film McCabe and Mrs Miller?

JTS

the songs on the soundtrack of McCabe and Mrs Miller were, I think, the stranger song, winter lady, and sisters of mercy. If you checkout the filmography link on the home page of this site it gives songs used in all films.

I recorded the film last year when it was shown late one night on channel 4 (our reception is poor for that channel, but any copy is better than no copy) When I came to watch it again a bit later one of my sons had gone over the beginning with an episode of Star Trek so I lost it !
