Oh, sorry to be confusing, Paula. I had no idea Joe Cocker was on tour this year, that was a coincidence. I think it was Mirek who mentioned him in another thread and I thought, any excuse to post this video. I saw him in the 80's. Amazing voice. Don't think anybody else put guts into Beatles' numbers the way he did.

Awesome video, Diane. Most authentic air-guitar I remember ever seeing. Joe's always been such a dynamic performer 8) .

Thanks for posting this.

Hi Lizzy,

It's an amazingly passionate performance from Woodstock isn't it. Not quite sure about the backing singers though. I don't understand why people are still talking about music on the forum when we could just watch videos! (and I only mean that with half-a-wink).

Thanks for info on the prog tonight Davido!

amazingly passionate
Yes, Diane, exactly that. I'll be interested to hear about and maybe even see some of his upcoming performances. Every time I've seen him on film since Woodstock, his passion has still been there.

As I write we are waiting for Joe Cocker to perform on Jools Holland right now. I first saw Joe many years ago in one of the Liverpool clubs. It was probably the Cavern. G-d he was good!!!! And still is.

He did an Andy Fairweather Low song, which is the title of Cocker's new album, Hymn For My Soul.

Here's a link to another Patti Smith Nirvana song, exclusive from the show.

I'm totally butting in here. I see the mention of Patti Smith and Nirvana. Last week or so I heard radio program that was highlighting her "Twelve" album.

I ended up going to iTunes and downloading:

Teen Spirit
Gimme Shelter &
Changing of the Guards

after listening to snippets of the entire album. Check it out if you haven't already.

Hi Byron ~

Did I miss some listening links with yours, or were they really what they appeared to be, just the purchasing links? Thanks for the one link you gave, Diane. Good information in that interview. I really like the footage of Joe with his dogs. The album's songs that I heard snippets of sound excellent.

Listening to the equally intense Patti Smith as I'm writing. They complement each other very well, and both use their hands for dramatic expression conjunct their voices. Thanks for that link, Laurie.
