Even The Leaves Shiver.

Post by witty_owl »

Here are a few stanzas from the land of Oz. Written in Feb 2000.

Even The Leaves Shiver.

Taking the time to gently stroll,
To leave no evidence in the wake of one's passing.
Observing the tone of the hour,
The songs of the earth, moment to moment.

Surprised! are creatures of fur and feather,
To encounter this primate across their path.
And in a moment, assess the mood of a man,
Before going to ground.

Even the leaves shiver, as if to be unsure
If danger lurks with the intent
Of this one who passes.
One of many they know whom wrought such changes!

Ah! the delight so felt,
In the presence of wild ones;
Is tainted by a sad note of awareness,
As they take flight in fearful recognition.

Predator and prey is the natural order
And yet- have we not moved so much further?
Beyond the needs of the moment
Into the realm of relentless plunder.

At times, an indigenous face is revealed
In the scaly trunk of a grass tree or,
On the fleshly bark of a gum tree and
I pause to look, and wonder?

I remember this one very well, Witty Owl, and like it every bit as much the second time around. Thanks!

Liz, I am pleased that like this a second time. (Was that at the blue board?) And here I am fishing, what is it that you find appealing?
(humour me) Cheers,
