Radio Trojka link for Saturday's broadcast

Post by liverpoolken »

I know it has been posted up here before, but it's buried somewhere in one of the threads and I can't find it.

I've Googled Radio Trojka and have found the station's homepage, but because I can't read Polish I can't see the link to the live section.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you Jarkko.

Just one more question - does anybody know what time the show will be broadcast? Either GMT or local time.

I'm out all day on Saturday attending a wedding (not mine, honest) so I'm hoping to get a friend to capture the show on his HD.

Thanks in advance.

I linked to it last night and the reception was wonderful. I could hardly believe that I was listening to a radio broadcast from Poland 8) . What sounded like Tibetan monks were chanting... and then it nearly sounded, though disappeared too quickly on the other link, as though they may have been playing some excerpts from Leonard's songs... just catching a couple measures, I couldn't be for sure... and it was gone as soon as it appeared. Who knows why on these things.

At any rate, the sound was perfect... and I want to be in place when the time comes. When I asked Pawel, he said that their time is GMT+1, so that would put us at 6 hours earlier vs. 5?? So, that would mean that for an 8:00 PM performance, I need to be at my computer at 2:00 PM? Can anyone Stateside confirm this for me? If not, I'll be sitting at my computer from 12 Noon... on ~ just to be sure  [not that this would be unusual, of course  ].

Pawel and I had talked about his calling me; or my calling him ~ to listen 'Live' via phone... except that security may be more stringent than it was in London/Oslo[?], so I don't want him to chance having his cell phone confiscated at the door... or when he phones me... so that mission may need to be scratched at the launching pad.

OH! I would LOVE to hear this whole performance over the Internet radio. Wish I knew how to record it, as well. Any instructions from the Internet-savvy for that??

Hi Lizzy,

Six hours difference is correct. If you want to be sure, go to
this website and click on Poland, then click on United States / Florida.

March 31, 8 PM CET (what's GMT +1), that was mentioned by Pawel few weeks ago. Maybe it's not confirmed yet?

The site says it's the time for show Lista osobista. No mention of Anjani anywhere, not even on announcements on the first pages of both Polskie Radio not thrid program. (I.e. there's an announcement for Eric Clapton.)

Found it under Koncerty, "Concerts on the Third", shows which are held in Radio Trojka's studio (had to browse old link for shows in March), it says tit's tomorow, Saturday, 20:05, Radio Trojka has transmission, it's "special concert in occasion of 45th anniversary of the Radio Poland's Third Programme".

http://www.polskieradio.pl/trojka/mst/d ... px?id=2850

It's indeed strange that there's no mention of the show's transmission anywhere. Also, search engine shows no results for Anjani or Leonard Cohen.

Hi Tom ~

So, if I click on that link that you've just provided, at 2:00 PM EST tomorrow, I should be exactly where I need to be?

Thanks for confirming.

Tom , this "special concert in occasion ...." is Anjani`s performance.
An interview with Anjani will also be broadcast there four hours earlier
/4 PM. CET/.The interview will be translated into Polish,I know it`ll
be a disturber for most of you, but often inerviews are made this way that original artist`s voice can be heard.

You're right - that IS really strange. At first (a month ago or so) there was an information about Anjani's concert and the title was" Anjani and Leonard Cohen. Then, there was only Anjani's name mentioned.
This week they started to announce both the concert and the interview with Anjani (the interview should be at 4 pm CEST (GMT+2)) adding a small remark "listen, because there will be a big surprise for the listeners".

Anyway - I guess you should follow either the standard link

http://www.polskieradio.pl/sluchaj/play.aspx?p=r3

or the link mentioned by Tom. When you follow Tom's link go down the list - there is Anjani name (and the date 31.03.2007) and below it you have the word "Transmisja" - it means "broadcast".
Right now the link of course inactive but (as I hope) it would be active when the concert starts.

So... still 30 hours of waiting - I hope Leonard will feel better tomorrow than yesterday in Norway. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I was waiting 22 years to see him again.

Hi Mirek ~

It's 6:30 AM here and I was just going to listen to NRK all day until interview and performance time. Since reading your posting just now, it seems I may not be able to... but, I'll try after I finish this.

Yes, I hope Leonard feels better today, too... first, for Leonard's sake, and then for you and everyone else who wants to watch and hear him sing Live. I hope that, even if he's not feeling better enough for that, that he'll still be willing to meet people. The rigors of on-the-road travel alone [absent all the hypey stuff that they're automatically caught up in because this is a tour and because it's so rare for people to be able to interview Leonard in such a way] is taxing enough. I hope Leonard and Anjani have had time to isolate and find some of the 'ordinariness' of their lives together [referenced by Anjani in their interview], as it would translate to some rest for Leonard and for them both. She's clearly very relaxing for him.

Enjoy your day today, Mirek :D !!

Now... to Polski Radio 8) .

Oh my... this is a story problem I can't work out. PEEEEEETE!!!
After I got some broadcasting from the radio, I decided to go to Sherry's link regarding world times. There appear to be several variables here that I don't know how to factor in...

(1) First, we are officially on Daylight Savings Time here ~ earlier than usual! I believe it was Bush who deemed it so this year, something about saving money  ~ how about curbing that billion dollars a day in Iraq first  ?

(2) Second, my computer has not changed its time, yet, as I guess that comes via the atomic clock... so, when I go to the time conversion site, it's talking about Standard Time being GMT+1 and Summer Time being GMT+2... so, it's saying it's now 5:55 AM here [which is what my computer says, but not my clock] and that it's 12:55 PM in Poland [as it's Summer Time, so GMT+2] .

So, if anyone out there is into maths, would you consider solving this for me and just giving me the answers! I didn't cheat in school, but I'm sure willing to do it here for this.

(1) Backing up from the 8:00 PM performance time tonite, what time does my computer need to say, for me to be at my screen on time?

(2) PRIOR to that, backing up from the 2:00 PM interview with Anjani time, what time does my computer need to say, for me to be at my screen on time?

Thanks for any help on these. I just don't want to get the wrong answer!

LAST Question: Is "PODCAST" time going to be REAL time?? So, if I just listen to the radio all day, I'll hear it?? Or, are only certain things broadcast? And, if so, are they broadcast at the exact time that they're happening, or later?

Is there a DIFFERENCE between listening to the regular, ongoing broadcasting of the radio station AND the Podcasting option?? Does Podcasting have their own microphones where Anjani is being interviewed/where the concert is being performed... and the regular listeners to the regular broadcasting are hearing something else?? Or, is everyone hearing the same thing at the same time what is available on PODCASTING, as well??

Oh, please forgive my non-techno self! I just need to be where I need to be when I need to be there today!! I just hope someone will indulge my ignorance and properly inform me. Thank you for your help... anyone.

My listening... listening... waiting... listening... leaving... returning... listening... waiting... listening ~ STOPPED!! I LOST EVERYTHING!!! Call my IP helpdesk and, by the time they answered, I had closed everything out, clicked the button on the modem, shut down, come back in, and gotten connected, again... here's HOPING this doesn't recur in the midst of Anjani's [and Leonard's?] interview or performance  !!!

Oh, dear... even with getting it back, it has already stopped once... cold... apparently buffering[?], but no mention of that being made anywhere :? . I SO hope I'm able to listen to this all the way through uninterrupted.
