I have just got around to listening to your interpretation of this poem. I like it a lot! Very hypnotic and slow, as befits the subject matter. Your backing singer compliments you beautifully. I'll be listening again. I hope Leonard listens and gives you some feedback.
i don't think the music and lyrics are in tune, and it's too much "Cohen-wannabe". i have a strong feeling, listening to it, that it was written in "what would LC do here" manner.
LC can write a song like this himself. why would he need you to do it? if he was to record someone else's song, i'd expect it to be something different. something he's not able to write himself.
anyway, i DO like it as a fan-music. it's got a nice melody (not much in tune with lyrics though, like i said).
You are right it is entirely written in "what would Leonard do here" mode. I'm well aware LC can write songs but so far he hasn't recorded Snow is Falling which as far as Im concerned is a great song waiting to happen. I could have recorded it with my dodgy vocals (it is self evident I cant sing but it is only a demo) in any manner of different ways but the one that would suit LC is the one to best demonstrate its potential. Which is why you see it as LC wannabe.
So in summary I agree with you but you have missed the whole point. How else could I get him to record this beautiful song/poem.
thanks for the feedback and listening
cheers
Simon
