Has anyone heard monsieur camembert?

Post by blonde madonna »

This one is for Australian fans. Has anyone seen them playing live?
I am wondering if this guy and his friends are worth seeing live or will I hate their versions?
I've heard the samples on myspace and I am not sure.

Hi blonde madonna!

I've heard Monsieur Camembert several times (at Woodford Folk Festival) and on each occasion they do at least one interesting Cohen cover. My favourite is their 'Dance Me...' cover (on the album Absynthe). 8) I can't guarantee that they are to everyone's taste - there is a strong jazz influence, as you may have realised.

Anyway, they have already done a couple of tribute shows as well and will be recording the show to be held at The Vanguard in Sydney in April. If you live there, you should try to catch them then! :D Check out this link:

By thw way, you should also consider coming to our annual Toowoomba LC birthday celebration event this September (22/23) if you live within striking disatnce of us. Here is a link to my report from last year's event:

Cheers :)

. . . on the album Absynthe). I can't guarantee that they are to everyone's taste - . . .
Perhaps, the same as with the liquid of the same name.

Thanks Andrew
I'm not that close but it sounded like a good excuse to spend a long weekend in Sydney. I really like their version of The Guests they have just posted on myspace.
I will also think about the Toowoomba gathering.

These were great excerpts... enjoyed them all, each for their own style. Monsieur takes me right back to Berlin, in its way... some variations, of course  . This group has to be really fun to see in person :D !!

Thanks for these postings and links.

I can't find it right now, Manna; but thank you for the explanation on your avatar. Again, I really like it.
