Leonard Cohen introducing Anjani in New York (and elsewhere)

Post by jarkko »

From Lee in New York:
I received an email from Joe's Pub in NYC late last night announcing for two nights in April, "Leonard Cohen introducing Anjani"....should be great as this is a wonderful small cabaret in the east village. I'm sure it will sell out very quickly.
...
Yes, tix are on sale!
April 24 and 29....
reserve tickets at http://www.joespub.com

Absolutely Simon -- don't know instruments all that well, but Joe's looks like it has a Grand Piano -- and for sure Dick and Linda and Geoff and Donna and Robert plan to be at both shows.

Allegiant Air doesn't fly to NYC. Jet Blue would be $234.00 RT. Anyone know of any other cheap airlines?

Problem is that in April I'll, even closer, be coming up on Toronto, England, and Hydra... and every penny may be needed for them  ! Couldn't even book a flight today if I wanted!

~ Lizzy

Just found a Delta flight for $154 RT ~ but Delta's and my history is rather jaded  .

******************

I just bought my ticket for the April 29 performance  ! [Pick-up at the door... hope it's a reliable method with Joe's.] Is it true that there's really not a bad seat in the house? I didn't reserve for dinner, which would've given me guaranteed... choice of... seating. I'll probably call them and do that next, since there's a minimum, anyway... soup, please :P .

The tickets are unheardly-of cheap at $23, including the $3 tax on the $20 ticket  ~ in NYC! You pay that much here for virtually nothing!!

Come you-know-where or high water, I'm doing this... the details will just have to work themselves out the best they can.

**************************

Never mind. Cancel my above question regarding flights. I've just booked through Orbitz [was that the one last year, with whom I incurred such a nightmare?? Delta and Orbitz the partners in crime?? Someone help me if it's both ~ well, second chances are generally worth a try... even though I swore at the time to never again deal with either! Oh, the seduction of a cheaper fare... ] ~ well, anyway, wonderings aside ~ got a RT flight from Jax to LaGuardia for $164.92, including parking at the airport for the one night [but 2 nights charged, due to the timing of my flights out and in]. So, here I sit with my trip and performance booked at $187.92 ~ done deal. Now, to check into the most economical way to and from the airport... and food that night... I'll be done 8) ! I refuse to live with the same kind of "Came So Far for Beauty" regret that I have for so long. It's a crazy world we live in... so, do what you want, while you can.

********************************
"Anjani has always been known as a great singer, a musician's singer," says Leonard Cohen, "She's known for this impeccable sense of tone and the ability to stack vocals one on top of the other, but this voice that she was showing here was a completely different voice that had moved somehow from the throat to the heart."
In reading this, again, my anticipation abounds, and I'm reminded of how strongly I feel that the "completely different voice" and the "somehow" were Anjani's heart gift to Leonard, the direct manifestation of his allowing her the privilege of his words. We hear love.

I'm so very much looking forward to seeing and hearing Anjani giving her heart in song.

Love,
Lizzy

Now... I wonder... is Leonard literally going to be introducing Anjani at her performance or is this particular wording simply a frame of reference for this tour, in reference to their collaboration with "Blue Alert."

It's not relevant, so far as my wanting to and going. I am curious, though; as it could be similar to the reference of "with Leonard's voice" in regard to the Glass performance.

No.

P.S. Please don't make a reservation for dinner and then order only soup. It will make LC fans look cheap!

I've checked the menu and I'll be ordering:

Arugula and Shaved Parmesan Salad................................$12
Baby Arugula Dressed with Olive Oil and Fresh Lemon

... with something to drink.

Some of us are light eaters in today's world.

My four promises:

If you promise not to sit at our table, I promise you won't be embarrassed  .

I promise you that, as a former server in all varieties of restaurants and clubs, the following day my server will not remember nor care what I ordered; if s/he remembers anything, it will be how I treated them :) and how I tipped  . These are where they live their lives. On these counts, both will speak well of Anjani and Leonard fans.

I promise you neither Leonard nor Anjani would be embarrassed by my choice... however, they would both be glad I cared enough about both of them to attend.
These are good enough for me 8) .

I promise to enjoy myself on my trip to New York :D .

20% of $12.00 That's $2.40.

I bet you up it to $5.00.

That's precisely where I was at for the base. Someone wise once said, "Walk a mile in my shoes."

I always do at every dining out experience.

The last thing I want to do is replicate you, YdF.

I see you're anxious to talk this morning, but I'm going to duck down this little rabbit hole over here and return to the world of magic.
