Do you know any live recordings of "Walking on water" or "Plants and rags" or "Dress"?
I like listening to P. J. Harvey, but it is the wildness of her emotions, honesty in going places that convention forbids? And purity of her voice. Like she seems to tap into dark matter somehow?
Some frustration; I have been looking for a year now, from time to time, to find a connection between the music of Polly Jean Harvey and the music of Leonard Cohen and there is nothing to be found. In interviews Polly Jean Harvey always refers to Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart as sources of influence, though she was in this relation with Nick Cave and he is a major admiror of Cohens music.
So for those who might not know: two fabulous songs that can fit in the atmosphere of Cohen.
