best 2 or 3 songs and why

Post by anhaga »

I was reading the thread about "10 best songs" and noticed that it went from "best" to "favorite" rather sneakily. Also, 10 is a bit much to decide. So, taking into account Hal's drunken post, too, I propose a discussion of what you consider Leonard's BEST (most accomplished, or w/e) 2 or 3 songs and, most importantly, WHY. Everyone has their personal favorites, which is fine, but I am curious about something a little less subjective than that (conceding, of course, that aesthetics is always subjective). I will give my response once I've thought about it a little more seriously.

The storys of the street, simply because of the line"and lost among the sub-way crowds I try to catch your eye" reminds of me of when I was about 14 and was in love with a girl at school, but never had the courage to tell her.I would often see her on the local sub-way and admire her from afar!
Also Suzanne, I was once going out with a girl of that name and she was very beautiful. At the time I was living on my own for the first time in a rented apartment and living (what I thought) was a very bohemian lifestlyle. I used to play my battered old Woolworths acoustic and sing it to her, she'd never heard of L.C and was very impressed, even more so when I told her that I'd wrote it for her!  Sorry Leonard.
