One Perfect Song



I have struggled for so long with one perfect song

that bestowed forgiveness on all, and healed the years.

I have cried to the heavens, and confessed all wrongs

of a past that ended in accusation and tears.

I pray for that voice that penetrates the mind

with a moment of undisturbed, electrical thought.

I work in this labor, and my heart responds in kind

to the timeless lessons ancient masters have taught.


I still believe in a future resplendant with dreams

even though all I can offer now our imperfect words.

A world of profound life, lovers walking along streams,

all in a glistening array where every prayer is heard.

I have struggled so long to write one perfect song,

one extraordinary monument to the cosmos of the heart.

And I intend to remain steadfast, clear, and strong

in service to their vocation; this inspired, holy art.
