Things that go bump in the night

Post by David »

Demons? No (except for Demon Rum, who is an old friend of mine)

Trolls? Only the Internet variety

Underwear gnomes? Hmmmm... now THAT might explain why I keep losing socks in the clothes dryer! I'll keep an open mind on this last one.

Um... WhoBy --

You DID see, didn't you, my affirmation that I do NOT personally believe in the aforementioned AIDS conspiracy theory?

This does not necessarily mean, however, that I would utterly denigrate someone who approaches it with an open mind. Indeed, that's exactly how I approached it, until I was satisfied that available data and evidence did not substantiate it.

I truly hope these discussions do not degerate into a series of ad hominem / ad feminam personal attacks. If they do, I will definitely make myself scarce.

Far as I know there is no evidence so far of the existence of either UFOs or god(s).

Tom
You want to know why people verbally attack Lizzy? I have a theory on that - for which I was called a "harpie" by - here's a surprise - apparently the same George Gordon person who is currently floating around here tickling our noses in his attempts to turn this thread too into his personal battleground.
Go have a look at the Why do you post thread in Comments and Questions.

Please don't leave this thread, George - I find you rather amusing :)

To the person (sorry, I forget who) who made the comment about the uselessness of this discussion - you do remember Ghandi? "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Meanwhile, for me, the spiritual levels/planes/phenomena are very much a given. You see? David and I disagree on a couple things already, and we still have respect for one another's right to our own views. That's how it works in the civilized world. He can disregard and dissect my views, while leaving me intact and in high regard. Likewise, me/I [hmm  ~ which is it  ?] with him.

Gee -- please don't give up on me!

Doesn't at least the possibility of "underwear gnomes" count for SOMETHING!?

Oh yes David - I believe in 'underwear gnomes' - but they don't steal socks

I'm certainly not about to give up on you  your puns, after all, are no inconsiderable matter.

Dear George G,
In reply to your post to myself and other named colleagues I submit the following ramble.
This thread contains contributions from 30 different people and has received over 5000 views of which many will be by non- contributors ( I have allowed for the fact that contributors will also be counted as viewers and that one visit will hit many new posts in one viewing).
In one fell swoop you make an assumption about 7 of the contributors and also deduce that the sensible ones have left. You state that you are one of the sensible posters and I trust that this has helped you recognise those of a similar nature.
I am of the opinion that the sensible ones have said their sensible bits and are now sensibly viewing the continued debate. I have seen no evidence of the sensible ones abdicating....I have no direct lines.
Your misguided assumption that a report is also a belief has already been explained so I won't delve there.
I trust that you will formulate a response but we will probably not read it here due to your decision to contribute no more.
At least you have amused Jo...now, she is sensible.
yours in good faith
Pete :)

damn, I said I wasn't going to post again here :(

Can I hug you here the same as I do in the chatroom?
(((((((((((((Pete))))))))))))))))
Me - sensible?????????? I've been accused of many things - but never of being sensible - so, thank you for a first - but I suspect that was a tongue-firmly-in-cheek-sensibility.

You don't have to worry about George - Lizzy and I intimidate him - he thinks we're harpies  How seriously can you take anyone who thinks that????

Socks

Post by David »

Well, maybe then it's hosiery-harridans who are my problem...

...as for the personalist attacks -- actually, I've always thought harpies were kinda hot, myself... but then, my father's name was Ulysses, so maybe I've got a getting-dashed-against-the-rocks-by-the-alluring-wail-of-hellbent-for-destruction-sirens gene somewhere in there, working overtime.

Actually, now that I think about it, that would explain quite a lot about my life!

Jo you are being extremely patronising to George - Where does he say you and Lizzie intimidate him I think you have your head firmly struck where the sun don't shine

Your comment annoyed me so much I actually when to check your posts and GG's posts.

GG says others seem to be intimiated by Lizzie he doesn't mention you. I think you would like to bask in "reflected glory" as the only posts you have made which can be construed as only slightly controversal have been a dog like adoration of Lizzie. Aside from those posts I would not consider you come across as a stong opinionated woman. And patronising comments of the kind you made to George just deters posters who might not want to get involved in snide comments coming their way just for the priviledge of stating an opinion. I on the other hand am quite able to deal with any comments you would like to throw my way.

p.s. Linda --

I just noticed your comment about what might happen if "some of the people" here ever got the chance to "rule the world".

M'Goodness! I certainly habor no such intentions... although if I did, I can guarantee you that there would NOT be any Saddam Husseins (or George Bushes) in the world if I had anything to do about it. There'd be a lot more music, tho'!
