One hour of Leonard Cohen
I wonder if we would see Prince Charles in the VIP section?
How about Undertow for the set list. It feels kind of jazz.
Or a complete evening of Halleluja covers by various artists. By the end of the evening the 100 000 people in the crowd would know the song by heart. A sort of Cohen high mass...

Margaret I heard of the existence of this song, though I never heard it. Blues of the Jews, then.

Undertow. OK. It was just put on the list.
Even the order of our choices (but of course I can't know for Billy Sunday) By the way any good samaritan could do a file that we can hear here at least a little piece of the piece? Please? 'Would be great.
Yeah! Keep the list running! (although - I know - it is now in the wrong section - if it annoys among the "news" section, well, please move it in the "leonard cohen music" section.)

Hundred thanks Margaret!
I downloaded the file this morning and I am listening to this blues tonight. Perfect choicefor this list! And how pleased I am to hear a non official record first, I like blues so much, and to hear Leonard Cohen performing that song. Do you (or anybody) know who sings with him?
The Ballad, did she sings it jazzy/bluesy style, or what, Lizzy? This happens sometimes.

Yes Margaret, thanks for Billy Sunday/Blues for the Jews. That is 17 minutes well spent. I can easily imagine it played under the stars, for thousands of people, on a hot Montréal night at the Jazz Fest. It's perfect.
Do you have any more of those hidden somewhere...?

That was played in Birmingham, December 12, 1979. And there are MANY like this (also Billy Sunday in "normal" 5-mins version). Simon, you are invited to choose from my list (it's old, but valid).

The mp3 of Billy Sunday that Margaret pointed to at:

is not the same as the one Greg has at:
http://www.twoshakesofalambstail.com/st ... index.html
The first one is 17 minutes, the second one is 13 minutes. The intros are different also. Sound quality is better on the first one. They are probably recordings of the same concert, but from two different nights. I preffer the first one. It's got somewhat of a gospel feel to it.
So maybe Margaret does have other original treasures like that for us...?

The 17 minute version is from a disc I have titled Golden Voice Volume 2, disc 1 and is marked as from the Odeon in Birmingham 8 December 1979. The Smokey life is also from that night, another possible bluesy number?
The disc also has some other goodies from the sound check in Preston UK 13 December and another Billy Sunday of about 13 minutes from Brighton on 15 December.
Simon and Tchoc, are you interested in a copy or shall I try to upload the complete disc on yousendit ?
