In the golden genuflection of light
Streaming forth upon the earth and human form
I lay beneath a canopy of green vaulting giants
Sprung from earth to search the limits of open space.
Here, the stance is one of willow, elm and gum
And green is the reflection of the mind of one
Breathing in the space between my thoughts.
Here, there is no attitude or meditative state but my own
Here, there is only life in its ineffable nature
Beyond my sense of knowing, beyond my sense of longing.
Yet to abandon all sense of separation
I am welcomed into a land of indefinable dance
Reborn in union with the dawn
To behold the miracle and wonder of light in form.

In the Golden Genuflection of Light
In light unbroken
Great perspective Berny and beautifully written.
The view of a mystic, the sounds of a gnostic in the words of a poet.
I particularly like the line "...breathing in the space between my thoughts"
"at the still point of the turning world
there the dance is." T.S. Elliot
You are in very good company!!!

G'day Mat,
I've been laid low with bronchitis lately. Thanks for your feedback. I sense you have quite an extensive literary and historical background to draw upon. Keep on writing.
Warm regards
Bernard
Hi Lizzy,
Your comments inspire me to continue writing. I never know which piece will strike a chord. I'm glad "Genuflection" did for you.
I lay between mountains and dream; dream of oceans.

Hi Linda,
I'm glad you found "Genuflection" worthwhile. A critic has said 'I wear my heart on my sleeve' in this poem. But what can I do? I have no formula other than being myself and following my intuition.
Yours from the land of Oz
Bernard
Hi Diane,
Yes I'm back from my weeding. Also back from pruning, turning of soil and laying mulch on garden beds. I appreciate your comments. Keep on keeping on
