The Little Willies - country music from NYC

The suggestively titled 5 piece band (in apparent tribute to Willie Nelson) from NYC features Norah Jones in its lineup and offers bluesy interpretations of country songs by Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash as well as a few originals including the intriguingly titled Lou Reed.
Looks like you can listen to the entire album (full-length tracks) here atleast for a while.
Extremely enjoyable!

I have the album, and I kind of expected more from it. I think Van Morrison's Pay the Devil is a better choice for country this season. Although that one could have been better, too.

huh....and I really really liked it. To each his own I suppose...
Actually this is the first time I could enjoy a Norah Jones CD (except for her duet with Willie on his album).....usually she's a little too sleepy and monotonous for my tastes....just drones on and on and puts me to sleep too.

Kris Kristofferson's This Old Road and Hank III - Straight to Hell. Those are my country favorites this year... And Rosanne Cash, if that qualifies as country!

Check out the live at Austin recent release for Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings - both on Borders listening station at the moment.
I've now heard LC (from the TV broadcast), John Hiatt and these two from the Live in Austin series.....one consistent point is that they all show off their best backup band in Austin seems like!!
