I dedicate these lines to lizzytysh as a representative for the many people they could be dedicated to:

Looking at the bleakly smiling faces
Of those who beat the drum
And lead the march to agonizing war
I find the varied carols gone.

But when I witness the courageous
Desperation and helpless tears
Of those who oppose
I still hear America singing.

Thank you, tom.d.stiller, for the poignant truth of what those many tears and heartfelt cries represent. Just as I'm writing this, one of my co-workers, who feels as I do, walked by and said, "They're bombing the hell out of Baghdad right now!" Her husband was in Desert Storm's "peace" follow-up in Kuwait and was in Korea, as well.....and saw many things never shown or talked about over here. I went to watch some of the instant-replay footage. Thank you for the poem [for us all, those here and those in our country, and those worldwide], tom, as the footage creates ever-deepening thanks for your understanding.

Tears

These lines are for Elizabeth, as she inspired them, and as she is a representative for the many they could be dedicated to as well
