If its Dave, we're all in trouble, if its BP, fair play, do you still have the recordings of your interviews with Leonard.

You could also be Ronan Collins or Tommy Tiernan, although I don't think Tommy has met LC but he does quote him often.

Apologies to the rest of you for the lesser known Irish mentioned above, its just one or two of your posts seem familliar.

Come out of the closet and lets get a Cohen chapter moving. I've been thinking about sticking an ad in Hot Press to attract the Beautiful Losers to a Dublin event. I failed miserably on forming one last year using the online meet up concept.

Seriously, I haven't seen anyone post anything to the effect of "I'd walk a thousand miles to kiss the tooth of John the Baptist" or anything of that degree of obsession with regard to Leonard.

As far as the "whiff of sanctity" that you imagine goes, I think that sanctified is a good word to describe what a lot of his poems and songs have been to me. It doesn't mean that if I met him I would freak out or bow down or anything. I wouldn't throw rose petals at the guys feet but I am in awe of his talent. My guess is that you are too or you wouldn't be posting here.

In one of my first posts here I think I mentioned that I'm not a joiner or a "fan-type" of person. So his work obviously has a lot of meaning to me. But I don't think he's going to part the waters or anything. And I think the reputation of Moses was merely an early example of what a good P.R. guy can do for one's career.

I think that Leonard would enjoy meeting me as much as I would enjoy meeting him. Providing, of course, that we weren't both complete bastards to one another.

To expound on YdF's comment, Red Poppy, there are indeed more than half of us who consider Leonard to be brighter than the average bear... and we don't follow the work of average bears .

Speaking of bears. I just saw Werner Herzog's documentary "Grizzly Man." You should watch it Lizzy. I think you would choose another animal as a metaphor for Leonard.

Was the Grizzly bright or not bright? As I recall, Grizzly Man is the one who trusted his bears just a little too much, considering that they are still wild animals, and paid the ultimate price for his trust. I didn't say Leonard was a bear... I said he was brighter than the average one... and that we don't follow the work of average bears, whatever that might be. We do, however, follow the works of Leonard .

I would like to see the film, however, if it relates to the man I have in mind.

So, do you think Anne is going to share any more details with us... or just let it go with her having met Leonard and Anjani?

Anjani had really sexy red shoes on. Leonard was wearing a lovely suit, as one would expect. I really enjoyed Blue Alert, all of the songs, especially the song leonard described as a 'country song', but that wouldn't suprise my friends too much as my musical tastes lean more towards country than to jazz generally.
It was a really small event. There were hardly any people any there. So I really got to speak to both Leonard and Anjani. As I said earlier, my conversation with Leonard was about Jarkko and the files. It seemed to me that we are both fans of Jarkko!
When I spoke with Anjani, I told her how much I admire her beautiful voice and the record. The party was in honour of Blue Alert, after all, so it seemed a bit more appropriate.
It was a wonderful experience for me. I was very lucky to be there.

Dr. Freud: "Leonard Cohen, brighter than the average bear" would be a hilarious blurb for his book. He would probably think so himself. See, I told you that if you wrote something funny that I would acknowledge it.

The thing that you might not be able to live with, though, is that he'd have to attribute the quote to Lizzy.

Her quote, your idea of it as a blurb, and maybe there will indeed be peace in the mid-east as a result of all of this.
