It is said that more die of heartbreak,
it is said that it is the ruin of dreams.
It is said that a great deal is at stake
when we go to so perilous extremes.

It is said that we practice it unaware,
it is said that we allow it all power.
It is said that we glorify our despair,
increasingly self-centered and sour.

It is said that our isolation can end,
it is said that I can forgive the past.
It is said that I cannot now defend
my misjudgements so terribly vast.
