aware of the seasons passing -
a fragile moment
to be savoured.

and there, at its centre
lay the infant,
her feeble cry
falling upon empty ears.
until from every corner,
the garden, relinquishing its treasures
assailed her senses
sending quivers of delight
through her tiny body.

the sun,
stretching its dazzling digits, gently
touched the babies features
with its warming aura
until her strident sobs
were assuaged.

from a nearby plot
the burning of natures waste
delivered its pungent scent
a gift born by the wind,
greeting the childs senses
with its heady odour.
while above
a canopy of
variegated hues
spun their rustic threads
into a triumphant fresco.

a final crescendo of colour
assailed her wide eyed vision,
culminating in a torrent of gurgles
an acclamation
in praise of natures wonderland.
