Language is metaphor
only an illusion
The actual genesis
of the metaphor
is the reality...
Underpinning Einstein's relativity
Mozart's Elvira Madigan
Gandhi's sweet compassion
Christ's whispered truths
or Darwin's natural selection
is something that resonates with us all
It is a language which
permeates every corridor of our Universe
It is indeed the Buddhahood
the quantum physics
the Yin and Yang
a young child riding a blue tricycle
It is a language that knows no letter
A language that obeys no number
It is not symbolic
It is
The ego boundaries I create for myself
are the very mechanisms that limit my vision
They are the remnants of my evolution
The Universe's evolution
The reason I understand Time by symbol...
When I break these chains
When I transcend the realms of competition
When cynical science and technology
rule no more
I will lose myself in that timeless dimension
That love, that truth, that G-d (words are inadequate)
Such occasions can only occur
when I pass through
many levels of suffering
of pain
I must die a thousand deaths
to be reborn again each time
My ego-shell must crack
to see what reality is
Now,
ever present Now
A Now beyond time
Now Time
Re: Now Time
Hi Boss,
Yeah, language is metaphor as a map is not the territory it depicts.
Seems, though, that we're closer to direct experience before we
try to put it into words or before its "genesis." It could be that
I misunderstood your meaning, or maybe its a difference of
opinion.
That you feel you "must die a thousand deaths" is a belief
that may predispose you to do so. I wish you wouldn't, but
we each make our own choices.
"a young child riding a blue tricycle," may be as fully
present for the experience of "Now" as someone grieving.
There is nothing less noble about the tricycling child than
a paining (coining a word, here) person.
Ego itself isn't an enemy, at least not in its healthy sense. -- It's the
armature for maintaining our place in life and is distinct from being
egocentric.
Just some thoughts, Boss.

G'day Steven,
I read your comments with interest. Please be aware that this piece was written many moons ago.
- dying 'a thousand deaths' was but a metaphor too. It refers to enduring the 'fair dinkumness' - the realness of things. Often, to do this you need courage because of the pain.
- there is nothing less noble about a 'young child riding a blue tricycle' than a person in pain. It just seems that in my particular Life I have lived in the latter. I never wrote the child was not alive in the Now; I only tried to find ways into that Now.
- to me my ego-shell denotes my mind. I am sorry if the wordage is technically incorrect. When I am all wrapped up in thought I am far from the Oneness, from the Now we all live in. To somehow penetrate this was the whole point
Thanks
Boss

I dunno that I agree with Steven.
There is a (something) that recognises what Boss is saying in the poem. (Something) affirms. Can't explain it. But the poem goes a way there.

Boss,
This is a whorthwhile poem. If we were going to jointly create a
sentence, maybe we'd come up with this slight variation on your words:
"When we're all wrapped up in thoughts or words, we're far from
the Oneness, from the Now we all can live in." At least I'd sign onto
it and wouldn't mind giving you most of the credit.
Fljotsdale,
It's fine, of course, that there isn't a certainty of agreement. That
the poem "goes a way there" is what matters; it's a signal that the
poem works for you.
