If you have any video clips of LC (100 MB or under) share them at http://www.youtube.com/ I'm uploading The Gypsy's Wife as I type.

To whom it may concern, you can view the following 7 videos I've uploaded at http://www.youtube.com/
The Gypsy's Wife, Dance Me To The End Of Love, Suzanne (Isle Of Wight, 1970), Suzanne (Promo filmed in the 80s?), Chelsea Hotel No. 2, In My Secret Life and Memories.

Jim,
Thanks for that! I've seen these clips before, but it's nice to see them again.
I know 4 of them (Memories, Suzanne, The gypsy's wife and Chelsea hotel #2) are from "I am a hotel". What surprised me was that there were Dutch subtitles to these clips!!! I've got a copy of "I am a hotel" on DVD, but without the subtitles... If you happen to have the complete video with subtitles, I'd be intrested to trade for something you'd like. Just let me know, ok?

The only videos I have, Maarten, are the ones I've downloaded through Limewire.... speaking of which: for those who haven't seen LC's performance of 'The Future' on 'Later with Jools Holland' (1993), I'm uploading it in the next hour or so to http://www.youtube.com/
Alongside the backing band, Julie Christensen and Perla Batalla accompany him on vocals.
Also, alongside the clips I mentioned in the earlier post, you'll find Jennifer Warnes 'First We Take Manhattan' there (LC's in the video, Stevie Ray Vaughan's on guitar.)

Suzanne is one that I didn't watch. I probably should. I have a mental block concerning Suzanne. I simply heard that song too many times. It's one song of his that I usually skip past.
It's probably time I become re-acquainted with it. Old songs revisited are often more poignant than they were when we were young.

Hi Linda,
I agree with you. In fact, "Suzanne" is the most difficult Cohen song for listening for me. I've had some observations that I was thinking of making for Jurica's thread about "Drowning Men" but I felt I needed to listen to the song and I couldn't bring myself to it. I watched all the videos that Jim has so kindly posted for us, but "Suzanne" wasn't one of them.
It is puzzling as that was the song that drew me to him initially. It was a cover version, but I sought him out and bought his poems and bought every album since them and now, find myself in this community of people who have the greatest admiration of him and his work-yet this song no longer "does it for me."
Strange how life becomes.

That's the same reason why I didn't say anything in Jurica's thread also. I do like this song still, and I am more inclined to 1979-80 arrangement with Raffi's violin and Bilezikjian's mandolin, but I can hardly think more deep about this song. Simply, it's there, but not in my horizon. I'd took 50 other songs before that one. And it was my first Cohen song, also. Of course, it opened first album I got, Greatest Hits.

Hi guys,
I am new to this group but have been a big fan of Leonards music since I was in school which is about 25 years
Is there anywhere I could download these videos from? I have a few live shows but no video. If there is any kind sole out there who can point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful.
I would also like to build up my collection of live shows of Leonards so if anyone would like to trade I am more than happy to send shows first as I am the new comer here. My list includes Dylan, Ani De franco, The Doors, Jack Johnson and a few others.
If anyone is interested please feel free to email or pm me and I can send you a list of shows I have.
Thanks for your time,
Graham

Hi Graham, I am not going to help with your query, I 'm afraid. But I notice you live in the UK and not too far from Bristol. I wonder if we might persuade you to come along to our meet-up there on the 7th January. Please have a look in the "other gatherings" section to find out more, and feel free to PM me if you require any information. I am sure that there would be people at the meet who could help you with your requests. There is no need to get your shoes re-soled, we accept people the way they are, here.
Oh, and, of course: Welcome to the forum
. It's great you found your way here, especially having been a fan for so long. I have not been to school for that many years either
.
Diane

Hi Diane,
I took Grahams' remark to mean that he's been in school for the past 25 years! You know, grade school, high school, then however many years of U. he needs to get where he wants to go.
It's starting to look as though the Bristol meetup is going to be a smashing success! I hope it is. If there's been a meetup in Vancouver, I haven't heard about it, and I know there are a number of forum member in the area. It takes only one person with some drive to arrange it. Its far too early in the morning for me to even begin considering it. But, it would be nice in the spring! Certainly something to think about.
Looking forward to seeing the pics. Have fun - and don't forget to have a cab waiting after all the Red Needles.
Linda.
PS: Graham: Didn't Jim say he downloaded the videos in that link from limewire? Just google in limewire. There are all sorts of things you can download from that site. Can you not download from the link above? I say this without fear of retribution as, in Canada, it is legal to download from the internet.
