Sirus, I don't think that Linda is crying, but as Serge go to her, go to her. With your lovely smile and charm you can show her how she CAN Love Again. I have bought you a ticket to Borneo go to the airport Malaysian airlines and quote reservation #ABS402836-69 first class all the way. 8)

I suspect that the certain person could look here or somebody would tell to that person... because that person seems to be footstepping "old ideas" lately  You never know, so I am spreading ideas around here 8)

From Leonard Cohen The Favourite Game top of page 101
"I’m sorry Tamara. I want to touch people like a magician, to change them, leave my brand, make them beautiful…."

Finally read through this thread. I would be interested to know, what you would consider, as individuals, to be a vow worthy of pledging your love? Not a Leonard Cohen piece, but your own words? that you would declare in public?

I love the Rumi poem, but if I had to say something it would go like this REMEMBER I AM NO POET

I promise to be your best friend and that you are the only man who will share my bed. I will be be nice to you at all times and maintain my sense of humour. I will ask for comfort in difficult times because I know you cannot read my mind. I agree that it is a good idea to take a one week separate holiday each year, then one together. Just because we are married does not mean that the romance must end. I will remember for the rest of my life the happiness I feel right now especially when you are getting on my nerves.

I didn't mean the words had to be poetry, just from the heart. Tri me your words are lovely.

Yes, they are Tri-me, and clearly from the heart. For me, I might change the being nice part to "I will try to be nice to you at all times and will be quick to apologize and receptive of yours" [not best way of saying what I mean on that  ], but then it's nearly 5 AM. I would add that I will try to always speak openly and honestly, and keep our lines of communication open. I will try to share with you my deeper self. I will avoid sarcasm, and not criticize or embarrass you in public or around people we know. [It's so nice having a well-stated vow to draw from and add to  ~ thanks, girl  .]

I take you to be my partner
with deepest joy I declare my life with you
I submit myself to your thoughts
and the total understanding
that I don’t need to be always right
I will live first in giving to you
obeying you caring for you
and ever seeking to please you
because there is peace and happiness to be had with you
I say these words and take these actions because…

I love you

Tri-Me asks:
Vince would you really obey?
To obey someone of your own free will
requires a foundation of trust.
Loving someone isn't that difficult
but trusting someone is another matter…

If you can't put obey in your vows
because you perceive it as a negative statement
and something your partner would abuse
perhaps the point that needs to be made is ....
should you be marrying this person?

Sirus pffffed:
I can only assume Vincent was drunk when he wrote that, and sozzled when he submitted it.
No, and no.
Your high moral horse Sirus,
like its rider
is wandering blind.

Laurie in Alaska quips:
sounds a bit 'cult-like' to me....
Really?
And from which cult did it sound like it originated ?

Obey To give ear to; to execute the commands of; to yield submission to; to comply with the orders of. To submit to the authority of; to be ruled by. To yield to the impulse, power, or operation of; as, a ship obeys her helm. Obedience is the willingness to follow the will of others.
Obey by definition sounds cultish. It also sounds like surrendering yourself to another. Trust is a very important foudation for a relationship worth stating in a vow. Obey.....if I am managing a situation, like being first assistant director on a shoot, and ask someone in the crew to do something I would hope they would obey my direction. In a lover for life situation I will not obey you, but I will work on trust issues. It is amazing the reaction a word can create. OBEY NO WAY

This was a fun thread. I have told people about the metrosexual super hero and have been encouraged to pitch it at the film festival. You never know, it I see it as a modern fairy tale.

Run for it, deer. The world needs fairy tales, I think.

As for me, I begin to really think about this thing : marrying my dog. (As least they are faithfull. )

Tri-me, could you do me a favour please? Following my post in the poetry section, I'm been asked in private how to put an image in a post. As I'm not sure if it is a troll question or not, and as you can feel the energy of people better than me, and as you kknow as well as me how to do it, (and as you are still posting on this board - joke) please could you take care of this? If not, well... OK. I understand.

If not, and if it is not a troll question, please the-person-who-want-to-know, use the search engine : the answer is someone on the board.

Thanks.
