Has LC ever posted in here?

Hi everyone. I really, really love this forum you all have here. I am new to hearing Leonard Cohen's music and am awed by it. Just starting to witness his poetry and art work, at least what's available online. I am curious, has Leonard himself ever posted here before? I don't want to to get all deep (or do I?) but I was turned on to this music at a time in my life when it just seemed he was talking directly to me. I think I had a lot more to say here but now am drawing a blank.

Hi Wilcotree, and welcome. At the opposite end of the scale to you, I have been listening to Leonard Cohen since I was sixteen, which is much longer ago than I care to remember. Many of his songs spoke to me back then in a way that no other songwriter's have, and he can still do it. He has a gift for cutting to the essence of human emotions in a way that enables many people to feel that he is talking directly to, or for, them.

Leonard contributes poems from time to time to the Leonard Cohen Files, but as far as we know he does not post here. He sends messages occasionally via Jarkko, but is far too polite to enter a room where people may be talking about him.

I hope you continue to enjoy your discovery of Leonard and his work. Don't forget the novels. They tend to get overlooked, but are both well worth reading.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes indeed, I am so looking forward to reading his novels. I am an avid reader. Currently reading "Joan Of Arc" by Mark Twain. Yes, Mark Twain. I was actually going to put in an honest day of labor today (really I was) but it snowed! Relatively rare here and a sign to me I'd like to think. So if the library opens I am going to get whatever books and CD's they have there of his. I'll let you know what I find at the library here in my small town by the hills. BTW, to the webmaster here at the files(sorry, can't recall your name offhand), your pages are great! I am so enjoying them! I am sitting here listening to the realaudio interview by KCRW of LC available in there. I finally see technology has a good side.

So i went to the library. They had 7 total items of his. 5 sound recordings and two books. i kept noticing on several of the items it said "see librarian for details" where the physical location info of the item should be. Seems theft of his materials is a problem here. People check them out and never come back. So out of 7 items they had 3 left and I got them all. Two CD's "Ten New Songs" and "More Best Of". i got the only book they had by him, "Stranger Music", all his fiction had been ripped off. I have been reading the book and hearing the CD's and it's beautiful.

Does his music still affect as it did at 16? i am 37 and i just started hearing him.

No, Wilcotree, I don't think Leonard's music does affect me the same as it did when I first started listening. Back then it regularly had me in tears, but that rarely happens now, even with the old songs. I think the young are more emotionally vulnerable, or at least I was. Maybe I'm just a hard-bitten old biddy now
