Christy covers some Arlo Guthrie stuff beautifly

I am going to stop there as so much of Christy's stuff is brilliant

If he has some new fans.... excellent, I hope his beautiful music brings all of you joy and peace

I have to say that, since seeing Liam Clancy on 'No Direction Home' i've downloaded a couple of clancy bros. songs and there of a similar ilk but Christy tends to do more than the generic rebel songs that a lot of Irish folk acts do. I also downloaded a version of Joan Baez singing Christy's 'Black is the Colour' (a personal favourite)

I'm no expert but i do know he didn't write it. I have a live version in which he gives a vague story of being 'given' it by a fellow folk singer in Glasgow. I've always associated him with it and it is a staple of his act.

Okay; but it is the same song, then. I've always loved it, too. I'll check his albums and see if I can hear at least a snippet of him doing it. I love Joan's singing of it, too.

I'm just this minute after seeing an ad on television for a brand new Christy Moore album! I'm really excited because I heard a snippet of a cover of "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" by Bob Dylan.

Christy not known outside Ireland, are you joshing. I've been a fan since his days with the PLANXTY lads way back to 1972. I think you'll find there are many of us in London. Liverpool, Glasgow and other parts of these islands, as well as fans in N. America, Australia and Europe who have been seeing him in concert and buying his music for years.

Some of Springsteen's falsetto styling on this CD is similar to
that of Canned Heat in "Going Up To The Country." Anyone
else notice this? (Younger folks may not be familiar with
this group, but y.m.m.v.)

I've just bought the new chrity album today, i'll give it a listen and let you know. What i have noticed so far is that christy didn't write any of the songs himself but i don't think that's a big deal and it never has been with him, another matter of interest for me was to find not just the dylan song I've already mentioned but a joni mitchell song to boot! I'm listening to those two songs now and i'm very impressed

Hi Shane,

One song, as performed on the CDs accompanying DVD,
particularly stood out for me as similar. It could just be my
own take on it, though. Glad that you know the music.
