I agree with you and already have "Unearthed." Johnny Cash goes
places on some of these songs that are beyond my ability to
describe. (There are two versions of "Bird On A Wire," included
in the compilation, if I remember correctly.) Johnny Cash
transcended all kinds of stuff with a number of these songs and
takes his listeners along for the ride.

Hi, shane. I don't have "Unearthed" but I really like Johnny Cash especially the American recordings and all the stuff he did with Bob Dylan.
Are you Irish? I couldn't help but notice the Christy Moore quote and Shane [/i]is something of an Irish name isn't it?

No, I am not Irish. But I am a big friend of everything Irish. Including Christy Moore and Shane MacGowan (who partly inspired my screen-name... other parts being the western and a song by Haustor... Tom'll know what I'm refering too.)

I'm not sure which Christy quote you are talking about, but I presume it was something from "Back Home in Derry", which is one of my favorite songs of all time, written by my hero Bobby Sands. My band covered this song and I was telling my friend from Glasgow about it, and he told me about Christy Moore.

Ghoti, I am a huge Christy fan as well, and have loads of his stuff. What brought him up in my estimation is the fact he replies personally to loads of the messages in his web-site guest book.

Ali, I believe you recommended Christy Moore to me at our meet! I have only heard the song 'Ride on' which I like a lot so I must check him out.

I too am a fan of things Irish, Ghoti. My mother is Irish, so I claim to be half Irish although it is pushing things a bit as I have never lived there. I really like a T-shirt slogan I once saw in Dublin which said "There are two types of people in the world: those who are Irish and those who wish they were Irish."

(I am half english, and now, as I have lived in Wales for quite a few years, half welsh too.

) Anyway, Ireland is a beautiful country, Irish people are lovely (the ones I have met) and the accent the sexiest ever

Shane, I was talking about your location - The raggle taggle gypsy. I'm somewhat surprised at your choice of Bobby Sands as a hero, I wasn't aware he was known outside of Ireland. Ali, glad to hear your such a christy fan, i really like him too and some of the best nights I can remember were spent sitting around with a guitar (I wasn't playing) and usually a couple of christy's at least. Diane, I'm glad you like all things Irish but I think if you ever heard my particular accent it might put you off

Ah, okay. Thanks. I'd gotten into that section and seen "More info," but thought, "I don't want more info, I want to hear the bloody thing." He put out a lot of albums between 1969 and 1983 [now 22 years ago
