Blimey, you go away for a week and have the equivalent of a novel to read to catch up on the forum. To be brief:

Lizzy, yes, the word 'exhilaration' definitely sums up the experience of mountain biking

Tchoc, the pics you posted are gorgeous, the autumn colours are spectacular (although my fave pics of autumn are misty scenes). I become as excited as a small child to get out into the hills when it has been snowing! I don't associate snow with autumn though; it doesn't usually snow here in the UK in autumn, just rains a lot.

Linda, I think it's cute the way you go to the store to get your candy

. (Don't eat too much though, you know how it rots your teeth.)

Simon, synaesthsia is really interesting, I think I recall recently reading somewhere that all babies are born synaesthete, which gives a fascinating insight into what it must be like to be a baby.

Tri-Me, what a wonderful story about your 'first encounter'!

Thanks for the coodoos Tchololatl. I don't know how old Master Yap is, he does look young though. part of it is his meditation and part of it is living in Mayalsia where it is very humid. Some people who have been meditating for a long time have a youthful glow as they becoome more relaxed and peaceful, joyful.
The leaves are turning very slowly this year. There are many trees that are fully green.
I have one autumn picture which is a photograph that a friend put in photoshop and enhanced so that when you are far away it is still sharp. One day when I have time i would like to learn photoshop. Recently i met a man who can teach a four day course in Maya Animation. If I can find funding might get the co-op to run a course. I would like to do animations from photographs.

in a tv show in germany last saturday ("wetten dass") there was a woman who was blind from birth. she said she could feel colours. with the help of her sister who explained to her what colours are she could improve this incredible ability. in the show she was shown telling the colour of several shirts, even striped ones. she compared them to a white one and said dark colours feel less soft. that's incredible, isn't it? part of this ability may be the fact that dark colors absorb light and get warm whereas light colours reflect it. but that's not a complete explanation.
there are really senses hidden in the unconscious that hardly anybody is aware of!

I would have loved to have seen that show. Another, possible explanation for the softer/less soft could also be that dark colours would generally have greater concentrations of dye, whereas light ones would have less to none ~ so the density of the fabric itself could vary.

Very interesting phenomenon! Our senses really do compensate for one another.
