Do we owe "pillock" to the Brits or the 'Latin'/s  ? It sounds scourging enough, but what exactly does it mean?
The Book was born in 1955 and cost the princely sum of 9 shillings and sixpence. Sold in all good carboot sales.......

However, Brace yerself girl!!!!

Pillock British slang - a stupid person; a fool. [16th c., = penis (variant of pillicock ): 20th c. in sense defined]

And it just about sums up my cousin as well.

 I survived the embarrassment of etymologies. Hence ~ the new, American variation, "You pillockhead!" Well, hmmm, got a bit of unintended double entendre with that, now, didn't we  ?

Thanks, prof!

This is really cumbersome. First, I have to ask what, what you said, meant. Then, I can respond. What does "going through a purple patch" mean? You gotta remember that we English speak different Englishes  .
